I liked a lot of the craft on display in Babylon, but narratively it felt like it was from like 40 years ago. The lure of stardom, you say? The hollowness of the Hollywood machine, you say? What novelty!

Gyllenhaal seems a way more likely candidate than Johnson. Especially in a movie like Life, with a for-hire studio director like Daniel Espinoza who wouldn’t be looking out for anything except the final product. Johnson, Fassbender, McGregor and Hemsworth all have pretty solid reputations as costars. Gyllenhaal’s…
I feel that I made it very clear that these are my own personal opinions, but if you feel the need to consider me an authority on which shows should continue and which shouldn’t I won’t stop you.
Nope, not implying that at all.
CA just raised fast food min wage to about $25.
This seems a convoluted way of dissolving a company/brand. Why not just say, “We’re closing all our Wendy’s restaurants cause we’re no longer interested in running a business?” Wouldn’t this reflect absolutely horribly on someone’s resume? “I destroyed a long standing major fast food brand by trying to price the food…
Remember when people thought prices would go up because of employees getting a living wage?
I don’t think dynamic pricing is going to work out for Wendy’s. It works for Uber/Lyft because they have close to a captive market, but Wendy’s isn’t one half of the only game in town and customers are absolutely willing to drive a little further for a couple of dollars off.
It also doesn’t really make a lot of sense…
It’s very important to boycott Wendy’s, because if this system ends up working, you can be sure it will spread like wildfire through the fast food industry and beyond.
People keep including the “they can lower prices at times of lower demand” part but like they can do that by itself. I’ve seen a few places (most notably Sonic) have cheaper “happy hour” prices in the afternoon, usually 2pm until 4 or 5pm. And the great thing about this is that they advertise it, so you can actually…
Somehow, I doubt that the staff at Wendy’s will see a dime off this.
Hm. Where should we go for lunch?
I know! Let’s go to the place that specifically raises their prices at lunch time!
Guess I’m not eating Wendy’s anymore.
Sacrifices must be made to the almighty Shareholder Gods!
Of course there’s fucking stock buy backs.
In other, completely unrelated news:
100%. I work for a fortune 500, and it is the same cycle every time. Our economy is dependent on the myth of unlimited growth. When you lay off all of these people, it frees up reporting cash for shareholders to see. Which means when they actually do have growth, they will need to re-hire anyways and have massive…
Over 6000 layoffs in the video game industry, but how many people have been laid off in the Tech Industry altogether from 2023-present? The fact that companies can just throw their workers away while claiming record profits is ugly capitalism at its finest, but the sheer unchecked accountability for companies to…
It’s the everything has to be a live service mentality, that ruins games and developers.
