I don’t like it either, nor most of her music, but she seems to be a really good person all around. Even if she has thrown away songs from Damon Albarn for her latest album.

It’s taken me all of an hour and some change to be able to log in to say this:
Agreed. I thought it was clear that Adele (who obviously did not expect this and was in no way prepared) was saying Lemonade was an album especially for black women, and I like that she added that.
I assumed she would get some blowback on that. It’s rarely a good idea for a person to say anything that starts with “my black friends,” especially as a white person.
Some thoughts:
haha right?! I’m confused by that too.
I think Record of the Year is awarded for a single track or song from an album but it encompasses all the production. Song of the Year recognizes songwriting only. And then Album of the Year is the whole collection of songs. I think.
Anyone else think they need to cut the number of performances? I get that that what’s brings ratings, but it’s kind of absurd to have a 4 hour show with 9 awards given. There’s so much they could have cut and no one would have noticed. Pentatonix, Ed Sheeran, the Saturday Night Fever Tribute, Adele and Bruno didn’t…
“Trump does not care to read more than a single page, and he wants that page to be littered with images and maps.”
False, it is necessary and correct.
Why is it striking a more universal (meaning white women?) theme what makes it a masterpiece? Why can’t it as something by, for, and about black women’s experiences be enough?
It’s weird, some people loved this arrangement and some hated it. Put me in the latter camp. But, I will not begrudge her from wanting to do George right. It was obvious she was way off key the first time, and I was praying that she’d find the right key. Short of that, this was the next best thing.
Those people are totally obtuse. Or blind. It was very clear she wanted to do this song well for him.
That line in Formation about the “negro nose with Jackson 5 nostrils” made me, a Korean American, so proud of my flat, non-European nose for the first time.
I saw some pretty nasty comments (elsewhere) about “making it about herself”. Or you know, maybe the tribute meant something to her.
Blue Ivy is very, very cute and I loved her tiny Prince-like outfit.
