While car enthusiasts might enjoy those vehicles, you’d put Pontiac out of business within 12 months with that lineup.
SAAB. Hear me out. Make them in Sweden but make them electric. They’ll need to solve the cold weather/battery concern, but once that’s done, sell them to Norway, who has the most EVs per capita. If they can solve that cold battery issue, they’ll work just fine anywhere else.
Cord.
I’d bring back Pontiac, GM’s barely-concealed clone of BMW. If GM is going to continue doing the “one brand for each niche” method, then Pontiac should be the performance brand. Chevrolet is the baseline, Cadillac the luxury brand. Keep Olds or Buick if for some odd reason a “low-end luxury” brand is needed, but why…
Mercury, as Ford’s electric division.
Mmmm. Packard. They’d be a luxury body and interior maker for skateboard-format EVs. Let the luxe roll!
Duesenberg.
This one is easy. Bring back/into the US the Eunos brand.
Mazda wants to move upmarket, and be considered in the premium/low-tier luxury segment that Acura, Volvo, and Lincoln currently sit. Here is there chance. They have an inline-6 coming soon, so keep putting that 2.5 Turbo motor in the top trim of everything they…
Spyker. It died in the early 20th century and has been resurrected many time since. It just filed for bankruptcy for the 10th time. So it deserves to be revived again. ;)
Pierce-Arrow, and make damn sure Rolls-Royce is put in it’s place.
Amati. That way Mazda could stay mainstream and still have a luxury brand. Make all the models sporty hybrids or EVs to stand out and make sure they're all leaders in styling.
Give Saab back to the Swedes and let them build it as they would want. I have also craved a Studebaker Avanti, even the attempted resurrection 4-door, since childhood.
If Saturn comes back, I demand that all of the models be named for the planet’s moons. The sporty Saturn Iapetus, the spacious Saturn Tethys, etc.
I know it’s just one model, not a brand, but I want the Honda Element back.
I generally find the whole dead brand thing an exercise in trying to make something work that isn’t meant to work. But there is one exception for me:
I don’t really care about brands as a whole. I’d love to see the return of the Hummer H1. I think GM finally got it right in it’s last year of production with the Duramax. I’d also like to see the Lotus Elise and Exige back in the US, but it doesn’t look like that’s ever going to happen either.
