Oh, I realize there are women who either don't mind at all or for whom other charms can overcome my -ahem- shortcomings (my current SO is a half inch taller than me). That said it strikes me as odd that while there are very many men who vocally prefer the opposite of what the majority of straight men deem attractive-

As a 5'5" dude who's rather attractive otherwise (or so I've been told, and no not just by my mother) and whose well of insecurity and social anxiety spring mainly from his height it always pains me to read how much it matters to women.

Holy shit you seem miserable

It's weird everyone here seems to hate him. If you go over to the same topic on Stereogum everyone loves him. Maybe because those people listen to him?

"Father John Misty" is a character. He's intentionally being pretentious.

He's playing pretty big venues and fests. I'd bet more people have heard his original music than those covers.

Yep. Along with Pity Sex it's nice to see local bands get national attention. He's not remotely similar but I'm pretty sure Tunde Olaniran is going to blow up too

Posting just to say Protomartyr rules

Ah, yes! The goodness of sweatshops triumphs for once.

I really hate "Hotline Bling". Drake jacks a super fun beat from an already popular song… and turns into a whiny Nice Guy anthem about how he's sad some chick who used to booty call him is fucking other dudes now. How fucking lame is that? I mean dude you say it yourself you left the city- you expect this chick to

It's not a tenth as good as Cha Cha

"South Detroit" is either the heart of downtown or Windsor Canada. The city boarders the Detroit river to the south. I guess you could call what is referred to as "Downriver" South Detroit but no one ever does.

Biggie had the GOAT flow. It's not about what he says it's about how he says it.

I used to mindlessly watch/nap to L&O almost every afternoon after I got home in high school. It's perfect comfort television, as others have noted. Something about the lighting of interior shots and the way they shoot and use NYC is strangely welcoming or even hypnotic. You can step into the scene for a few moments

I think he toned down the stream of consciousness stuff a bit on WoaPD. It's back but not as constant on this one

It's musical click bait

I refuse to say it any other way

Dude could have covered one or two songs and released them without the theatrics. Instead he makes a big spectacle of covering the whole thing, making sure to release teasers and document the process for the press. It just smells like a way to drum up attention, rather than simple admiration, especially when you

Setting aside how contrived Ryan Adams' decision to cover Swift was, FJM is an intentionally douchey and sardonic character.
