They very clearly are not saying “nobody saw it”, with phrases such as “most folks now forget it ever happened at all” and “If you actually went to a show”, so no, they understand people heard of it and went to see it. 

Gee it’s almost as if no regulation leads to things like this happening more often. 

It makes it feel like Niantic is some tiny company. I don’t think it’s so much about poor communication as it is less communication so they could make changes as they want to.

I get your point. I’m saying that grading just determines quality and rarity; it doesn’t set a market value in and of itself. It contributes to it, but the agency doesn’t determine a value. 

Grading isn’t the same as pricing. Grading just determines the condition of the card.
