Behold!

Agree that Trump as president is likely to at least somewhat distract from Pence/Ryan dismantling the country, and therefore the likely trajectory is less-bad. But, and I think this is a huge but, the chances of a really catastrophic black swan event is much higher with Trump. Things like the end of liberal democracy

That tank is nowhere near gilded enough. Also, I fully expect Trump to issue an executive order to change the stripes on the Flag from red to gold.

Well that was universally terrible.

I’d go as far as saying they’ll make you worse, by distracting you from the things you should be thinking about.

Love this mouse, and at $20 might pick up another one just as a spare. But no way does the battery last 3 years for me. 1 year, maybe. Then again I’m at my computer all day every day, and they probably calculate battery life based on some 3 hours a day metric.

That “loneliest place on Earth” is how far away you can get from land, not people. Considering that Antarctica is pretty much devoid of people, having it as a bounding factor is pretty silly if you’re trying to get away from people. Conversely, water doesn’t mean there’s no people - you would need to at least consider

Didn’t show the lens in the case. I have a sneaking suspicion that it doesn’t actually fit, based on the observation that the bubble wrap didn’t go all the way around the lens, but does appear to go all the way around the bottle.

Would it still be the morally correct move if recognizing Taiwan were to prompt China to invade Taiwan? The death of millions, and the loss of Taiwan’s de facto independence, but hey, we did the right thing by recognizing Taiwan, amiright? I’m sure the Taiwanese citizens will greatly appreciate our principled stand.

I doubt Trump is cognizant enough of the situation to actually be making that bet.

Because as much as he doesn’t want the work and responsibilities of being president, it’s even more important to him that he won. The recount could undermine him being a winner, whereas being “jobbed” by the “corrupt” electoral college gives him a convenient out.

Nah, China’s leadership is smart and are realists. They know they don’t want the US going to hell in a hand-basket, because we will drag the rest of the world down with us. Plus, China doesn’t actually want to invade Taiwan, but will probably feel like they have to if Trump decides to officially recognize Taiwan.

There’s a big difference between standing up to China on issues that are relevant, and pointlessly pissing them off (well maybe there is a point - it’ll help Trump’s business interests in Taiwan. Certainly doesn’t help the interests of the US though.)

Where does it say there’s plans for a new giant Gundam? All that the linked article says is that there’s currently preparations undergoing for a “new project”, which will be announced at a later date. No indication as to what it might be.

Sounds like the Gundam Front is closing too, on April 5th.

If they really are replacing it, I can’t imagine they’d replace it with an inferior one. And who knows, this one may get another life somewhere else.

I like the fake photo backdrop too. Where is that!?

If you truly want to see it in all it’s glory, make sure to go after dusk, when it’s lit up, and stick around for the brief animatronics and fog machine display (which happens, I dunno, every quarter or half hour or something - no doubt you can look it up somewhere.)

I never understood the appeal of these things. Not much faster than walking, just as exposed to the elements, none of the exercise benefits, and you have to charge it to boot. Oh, and pay half a grand for the privileged.

Of course no one does it consciously or deliberately. At the time of purchase, they’re convinced they need it for whatever reason, or that it’ll make them happy etc. It’s only after the fact that it’s apparent that they didn’t need it or want it anymore (though they may never actually come to this realization, having
