The Rock is a classic.
The Rock is a classic.
My theory is that it was planned that way from the start as a gimmick for Netflix to increase view counts. They’re betting on Synder’s fans hashtagging releasethesnydercutagain or some shit like that.
I’m glad to see Mrs. Davis on here because I sometimes feel like the only person who watched it. The final episode was so powerful and I think about it regularly.
Wait did Righteous Gemstones not make the list? HOW?
May I recommend the Byrne-Rogan two-hander Platonic. Way better than I expected. Probably my favorite comedy of the year.
I guess no one at the AV Club has an Apple TV+ subscription any more. While maybe not mind-blowing television, shows like Silo, Shrinking, Slow Horses and Platonic should have merited inclusion.
I guess my only real addition would be SILO
lol I don’t know why House of Usher thought that was necessary. having that much wealth is evil, we don’t need a whole big pharm narrative.
I thought Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as his most mature movie ever up until the last 15 minutes. The friendship between Leo and Brad Pitt was nuanced and beautifully written. I loved watching Leo grappling with his own limitations as his career starts its closing stage. It was truly great writing. Then coming back…
and?
The lesser half of his movies are still infinitely more watchable than 90% of what’s out there.
3 minutes? Damn, you’re fast. I find that’s it’s over 3 minutes just to exit the theater, get to a bathroom, and make it back to my seat. That doesn’t count the time to actually piss. I’ve taken to purposely avoiding liquids for an hour before going to the theater, and voiding whatever I can before the show starts,…
I don’t object to long films. If it takes 3.5 hours to tell the story, so be it. But please, for the love of God and the sake of my bladder, re-introduce the intermission. 15 minutes in the middle of the film is not going to cut down on how many screenings the theater can schedule, and they’ll probably boost concession…
It’s almost like they have more than one writer working for them! Maybe this one missed the weekly consensus meeting.
I still laugh remembering The Defenders. The plot revolved around Iron First just not punching a specific wall. That’s all they had to do to stop the bad guys. Somehow they failed.
So much padding. I remember both The Punisher and Luke Cage always seem to have environments where live music was occurring — and they’d play (what felt like) an entire song, followed by another entire song.
as much as i get down on the current mcu, the defenders is still the absolute bottom of the barrel.
Nice, I’ll check out poker face. Also been meaning to watch afterparty!
Been saying this for years. The Netflix shows overall were good. rewatching DD a bit ago, the atmosphere, setting, cast, it’s all so good.
Save me from the NetflixCU truthers. Cool hallway fights and an incredible lead actor do not a successful writer make.
