One of my favorite movies recently, and the running time plays a big part, is Dunkirk. It is a WW2 movie that clocks in at a brisk 106 minutes. 1:46 for a WW2 movie???? I was so happy to not waste half my day in the theater on that one.

Which of those were made by the FF team that took a decade to make FFXV and has already dragged their feet on this remake?

Oh, none? Well fancy that!

I make a distinction between the other developers and the Final Fantasy team, because it’s the FF team that has proven time and time again to be incompetent...it’s not even a secret that they struggle to release anything.

I’ve said plenty more than episodes. Like Square (OG Square) can’t release anything in a timely manner, can’t finish anything they start, can’t figure out a path for a game so constantly restart it...I could go on!

That doesn’t really make waiting 10 years for it to finish (across mutliple console generations no less...gotta buy the remake of FFVII remake on your PS5!) any better to be honest.

What it is is incomplete though, which we all know...so it’s hard to enjoy. It’s like waiting for the next GoT book. An unfinished story is aggravating. 

For XV, they did release episode Ignis, Prompto and Gladioulus during 2017. But then the success of that made them do more, and it took April 2019 to get Episode Ardyn...and then the rest were cancelled, because lol Square. The engine, characters, etc were all done. The battle system complete. Still took a year and a…

Until Square proves otherwise, I don’t think it’s realistic to be optimistic about release timelines and games not being scrapped. We are in like year 20 of their utter dysfunction and incompetence. Call me when they can release 3 games in a row in a timely manner in the original vision.

And the next part will come out in a few years and after a few scrapped projects...so back to my original point!
