CRTs don’t give any benefit for Smash4, the only reason why Melee players use CRTs is because it gets around delay issues with converting signal to a digital output. But with certain adapters and 1ms response monitors, CRTs aren’t even necessary anymore.
Most large-scale Melee tournaments already use gaming monitors…
Devilman is just one season, no plans for another (and ends pretty definitively).
Kay Plays is legendarily good.
I love Marshall’s Pathologic let’s play, but he only completed 1/3 paths in the game. For those looking for more, There is one complete playthrough on the English speaking internet, and it’s by SulMatul, and can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/SulMatul/playlists
I very unironically think that the n64 Castlevania games are not even half as bad as they are made out to be. Original 64 is uneven and unpolished, but Legacy of Darkness is a genuinely great, way ahead of its time early character action game that really does feel like a weird predecessor to Devil May Cry.
Also those…
Begrudgingly, Hungrybox. Guy is ranked over Armada in 2017, the only Melee player to do so in years.
almost no advanced tech in melee is based off of glitches. some are exploitations, but very rarely are outright “glitches” part of the advanced scene in melee at all.
Wavedashing really isn’t the reason why people like Melee. People like melee because of its multitude of movement options. Dash Dancing is actually a lot more important than wavedashing for explaining the differences between Melee and Smash 4 and why the two games cater to different scenes.
It doesn’t need to be revived, it’s still being played and is still an active and growing scene. Why is this a problem?
Nothing is wrong with Smash 4. Smash 4 and Melee are just different games that cater to different people.
Also, I don’t blame you for thinking that you can only play 3-4 characters competitively, but in the top placing competitive scene in Melee there is a decent amount of character variety.
Fox, Falco, Marth, Peach,…
It’s less a “fad” than it’s just a continuation of a very, very long running scene.
I played a bit of this and it was awesome! I love what they’ve done with some of the Smash 4 characters as well. It plays well and feels great. I can’t wait for more!
I agree with all of this except the Wally Brando scene. That scene was comedic genius placed exactly where it needed to be, delivering one of the funniest moments on TV in the last year. It perfectly played to the original goofball Twin Peaks sensibilities while deftly characterizing the lives of Wally, Andy, and Lucy…
Will this contain Shadow of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark as well?
It was a very interesting time to be involved — I think it prepared me for future fandom interactions. People were really interested in Homestuck, MLP, and a few other things all right at that time and it was like... this place where all these places intersected. I remember when people in the community began to…
Totally! I’m so glad you took the time to read my comment, and I really did like your article. It’s so nostalgic to read about this persistent thing that I felt deeply involved with in my teenage years.
It’s just also an interesting feeling — being, somewhat, like a forgotten piece of history myself! And I certainly am…
I was deeply involved with this arg at the time it was going on — all the way from the original pasta to Within Hubris (http://s13.zetaboards.com/WithinHubris/index/), and was a founding member of one of the solution groups — the Bomber Kids and the “PERSONA” Group, as the game slowly shifted and became more meta.
They had information that no one else should have had — this was stated in the article — So it wasn’t just a case of people “believing them immediately” at all.
4chan’s been an alt-right thing for a lot longer than “now”
