I understand your woman pretty much, I went into it thinking that the hype was complete nonsense and stupid and that it was probably from people who never saw an anime, and I ended up doing a complete 180. It was REALLY surprising and to be honest a bit troubling in a good way.

Kids CAN like it but some parts of the theme are so “complicated” than even adults may need 2 times watching it to get it (the “related to disappearing tradition” which is related to...something in Japan, I can’t say without spoiling, as an example). It’s nothing bad for children but there’s a fair chance they’ll not…

Since it’s an animated movie it’s for kids and nobody will watch it, and therefore it’s not worth putting in a theater. Way to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. I wonder if it will be the same in the US.

No, they notice it immediatly. they forget everything afterward though, at the end they didn’t even know if they were searching for a PERSON or a PLACE.This being said the characters are stupid sometimes, like Taki not writing “Mitsuha” in a notebook himself or something.

Also, some jokes are pretty hard to translate.…
