Question! I’m an old and I remember when viruses and malware were vicious enough that the wrong one would could cause physical harm to the PC. And there’s the famous Direct TV download that did indeed fry pirated cards. So..what changed?

Of course it’s not true. It would be literally impossible. At best it could cause a situation in which it sends full power and load to the CPU but that’s restricted by the firmware or even lower than that. Even then, the PSU would overload before it could happen to the extent of “melting” the CPU in seconds.

Sounds like Yakuza work, or someone with a strong grudge.

Despite all this, I’m deeply uncomfortable about buying this game now. I’d like to see if Rockstar takes measures to fix this before opening my wallet. Other than that, what’s the right thing ethically, buy the game and ensure their bonuses, or send a message and try to change things in the future?

On an unrelated note, Transistor is coming to the Switch! I actually think that is Supergiant’s best game, and I’d definitely consider double dipping if it goes on sale.
