My vote is the Cadillac Catera. Built by Opel in Germany, the car was another attempt at a shot at the 3 series. The car was rear wheel drive, had a timing belt and didn't really look much like the other Cadillacs available at the time. It wasn't very reliable and in the final year here in 2003, only 15 were sold.

I know you had to come up with 10 automakers but c'mon... Subaru? The CVT added more than a handful of mpgs to the Forester and Outback and they still offer a manual in every car they make, not to mention the BRZ, WRX and STi. Also the Forester XT puts out Cayenne-like performance... and weighs 3200 lbs, far less
