Exactly, you need the copyrighted assets to compile it. i.e. a rom file of the SNES game. By not including that part they’re trying to stay out of trouble. I believe legitimately reverse engineered code is fine.

Tencent is pretty much the Disney of video games now; the largest gaming company in the world. And given that they must give every iota of data to the Chinese government on demand, the rest of the gaming world SHOULD be concerned.

I find crappy game design to be crappy game design regardless of how long ago it began. Now that the Switch has built in infrastructure to separate save files by profile there is no good reason, other than “they wanna“ for forcing all profiles to share the same save data.
