No one seems perturbed by the gay prostitutes, his friend is comfortable with himself and wishes the same for Paul ("Be what you want. It ain't bad.") and IIRC

I can't even imagine what it's like to be a member of that family right now. Having a family member killed is awful, but it's not just that; that family placed their trust in the legal system, despite all the many, many concerns about the impartiality of it, and they were denied even a trial.
