When people criticize costumes in games, you have to remember that what’s at the root of it is the game perpetuating an already-existing trend.
It’s one thing when it’s an option. It’s another when it’s the default look that’s used in all the marketing.
Take your time, play with the mechanics. Explore the various systems. Don’t skip the side conversations, as they add a lot of meat and life to the characters. TURN ON JAPANESE VOICES
The default costume though is sort of the thing that is “projected” into the social world. The social stigma of “Yeah, I play a game full of scantily clad anime women, but I swear I change their outfits” is still far more than not playing the game.
People complain when skimpy and unpractical are the ONLY options.
