Honestly, no arguments that by the numbers the AW4 ZJ is infinitely more rare than a 9er, I get that. These days, 9ers are pretty darn hard to find in the condition of this car especially without stories.

Eh..... The last two 5.9s didn’t even break 9k and those are also desirable to people outside of the Jeep community. Granted, those were last year before the market went bonkers. I’d peg this between 6-8k tops.
While this is in excellent shape, and should not be hacked up (oh how I wish I hadn’t cut the fenders on my XJ)..... I’ve managed to kill an AW4, it’s not nearly as rock solid as people make it out to be. It runs hot, and the torque converter logic can be.... odd. Plus a lot of shops also end up hurting them by…
Doubt it’s awd that limits towing capacity on the Hybrid. More likely it’s due to the eCVT.
I’m having the same struggle if it makes you feel any better. Bought a Base MT this time last year, pretty sure I could sell it for similar profit to you. I enjoy it, but have too many cars. Adding the Boxster just meant the S2 sits more than it should. Problem is that I’m not likely to find another MT in Aqua blue…
Interesting, must be a Canadian thing, or the actuaries/underwriters probably lost their ass one too many times. I’d be more than a little upset that they wanted me to pay $250 out of pocket and involve some third party.... just to potentially enter into a policy with them. Just include the risk/cost as part of the…
Hasn’t been my experience. I have both my 987.2 and S2 on declared value policies. Didn’t need to send them anything but pictures to prove the car wasn’t actually on fire. They even suggested I up the value on the S2 last year, by quite a significant amount. I was going to anyway, but it was nice that they were…
Pretty sure they dropped the V8 from the Laredo years ago (2014ish maybe even earlier). Not shocked they killed it on the Limited. The pricing on loaded Limiteds was almost identical to the Overland anyway, so I’m sure dealers complained that they sat on lots for so long.
I just built an Overland and it gave me the option for a V8. Just like the WK2 you probably have to get 4WD to get a V8.
I’d imagine it’s either just an open diff(for cost savings), or some sort of multi-plate wet-clutch setup, or possibly a Torsen in the center too. Given that it’s a Torsen in the rear, I’m going to guess even if it was a clutch system it would take a lot to overheat it, since a rear wheel should always have a least som…
Exactly... NADA said my nearly mint 944S2 with Burgundy interior was worth $6k, $9k, or $35k when I bought it.... I’m sure you can guess what loan value my Credit Union offered.
Yeah, I financed my 944S2 with Lightstream, they were pretty awesome for an old enthusiast car loan. They straight up didn’t care what I bought either: Was going to buy an E36 M3 and had some family stuff come up and couldn’t get there in time. Called them three weeks later, asked for more money, since the Porsche was…
21MPG??? That’s not far off what my 2016 with the 8sp and none of the extra off-road hardware did.
Seriously, I bought just about a year ago to the day, figuring I’d drive it a few years and break even....
Somewhat agree... there are plenty of Porsches worth good money with high mileage. Some PCA people prefer cars with a big ODO number, but this ain’t it. This is a decent deal in the mid 10s imo.
When I moved here I bought a 2003 Jetta 1.8T thinking it would be like the Bora. That thing had more rattle and squeaks than a baby’s toy. I don’t blame you for wanting to import a European market VW, I expect the build quality to be leagues ahead of the US market VW’s of that era.
I personally voted ND. If you want a restoration project this just needs too much. You’re better off starting with something in the 5-7k range that has one of: good paint, verifiable mileage, or a nicer interior. That being said, Transaxle prices continue to get crazier, so maybe this one could work out.
Yeah, I seriously love my Touareg, but I’d like something that has more armor support, and a low range.
Yeah I’d prefer an Overhawk, at least that’s what I’ve started calling them, and have been looking for one for a while now. I’ve found 4 used ones nationwide the last month and two new ones. Dealers aren’t really giving big dealer incentives on them either in my experience.
Seriously, the GC Trailhawk is a great package, it’s plenty capable outside of legitimate solid-axle-required rock crawling. Plus, if you don’t want the stickers and red tow hook look you can just option ORA2 on the Limited/Overland. That way you get all the Trailhawk skids/eLSD/tow hooks but an otherwise totally…
