Yeah, in NA it’s been crap since they changed it a few years ago. All of the German big three luxury brands are. It’s 1 year by default, and like I said insanely expensive if you want to extend it, if you even can.

Not sure where you’ve been buying CPOs.... but BMW’s program for ICE is pretty crap now too, at least in the US. 1Yr/Unlimited miles, with the possibility to extend for one extra year at a significant cost. My mom got quoted $5500 for an X5 50i. Thankfully, that scared her enough to run and buy a Cayenne. Anything…
I think it’s really odd the 911 is on there, maybe it’s the 992 effect? I’m always watching Porsche prices and across the board they’ve been at least steady.
To be fair.... GM and Ford are still kinda letting Jeep sit on the Grand Cherokee. Neither the Blazer or Edge have the capability you can option on a Grand Cherokee: low range, 7k towing capacity, V8, air suspension. Granted the Ford/GM are cheaper, but they don’t have anything else that comes close to competing.
Don’t get the wrong idea, I think LRs are great. An LR4 was my number 1 choice when I couldn’t deal with my Golf’s seats anymore, but even on the used market it was $10k+ more than the Touareg I ended up with.
Consider this: How far do you think you have to go from the middle of Big Bend National Park to get parts for the LR when it breaks? How about the Toyota? It’s better than the Land Rover as a luxury off-roader, because it doesn’t have air suspension, a super charger, and a huge amount of tech. Is the LR technically…
I agree, and its starting to reverse on BMW as a brand too, but what’s your point? BMW isn’t going to start saying our new X1 is a bloated mini. They’re full in on “Ultimate Driving Machine”. Harley isn’t going to sell any bikes if they said it’s all fat doctors and lawyers.
I agree, which is why I’m not going to denigrate FCA’s choice to include “heritage” in their sales materials, unlike OP. Like it or not, heritage plays into the mind of people who buy based on looks and image, which is why I gave some examples.
I get it, it’s not the best example, but it’s one of a few that might relate to the sports car community. When I consider a McLaren, Lamborghini, or a Ferrari: it’s really just preference, they have similar it factors, and storied motorsports history. I personally don’t think that Corvettes have the same prestige as…
I think you’re over-estimating the average consumer’s thought processes.
They will. Last I looked 718s had already gotten into low the 40s in some cases. I’d agree they’re likely to be the next sports car bargains, and they’re still truly excellent to drive.
This deal is CP for sure, I agree and want to live in that fantasy world of a decent $6k Boxster existing
I couldn’t agree more, I love my XJ, but its spiritual successor exists already and prints money. Like it or not, the LJ blazed the trail then the four door Wranglers followed. We have a modern Cherokee, it just says Wrangler Unlimited on it. Reasonably comfortable, highly capable, four real enough seats, expensive…
No the 968 had the first production Porsche 6sp manual. It got it before the 911. You could get the tiptronic, but the manuals are more common.
I’ve got a third gen and overall.... it’s my favorite car I’ve owned so far. I even pick it over my Porsches for recreational driving on occasion.
Meh... I looked at a WK2 and the Touareg 3(2012-2017) and ended up with the VW. Sure the Jeeps are more capable, but the T3 is just fine for some mild two tracking, and laughably more comfortable.
Good luck finding a Transsyberia that the owner is willing to let go of. I looked before I bought my T3... there were two and both were over $30k. Didn’t take long to get de-listed either. They’re extremely rare with the options you listed, and are probably one of the few Cayennes that Porsche PeopleTM want.
Yeah, this is right on the money for a sorted 996 cab at retail. My local Porsche dealer sold a very similarly equipped and mile 996 (Silver over Metropol Blue) C4 cab with hard top for right around this price.
Even then, my neighbors block the sidewalk in the ‘burbs. I feel bad about having five cars at my house for another few days, but the two people across the street have a full driveway(3-4 cars spilling over the sidewalk) and two cars on the street. It’s insane, at least I use my garage to store cars, and not stuff.
You’re pretty much on the money. The people buying these like the idea of a Range Rover or Grand Cherokee, but don’t need the actual capability, luxury, or performance. They still want to appear to have some sort of quasi-luxurious/exclusive “lifestyle” vehicle that looks “unique” enough compared to the Escape etc..…
