I dropped the top yesterday evening in Austin. I mean I wouldn’t sit in I-35 traffic at 5pm with it down, but a hill country drive in the early evening? Not too bad at all with a little AC.

Sounds like an implementation problem. VW provides 5 distances and 3 “aggressiveness” settings.

Best feature on my Touareg, save for the extremely comfy seats. Won’t buy another daily without radar cruise.

Check listed TDI vs Gas prices on comparable Q7s/Touaregs/Cayennes, it’s not even close. When I bought it was nearly a $10k difference so I went for the trusty VR6.

Yeah, I drove a 996 expecting to love it since I’m a huge Porsche fan, and I just didn’t. It was nice but didn’t yell, “Sell your 335i and buy me!” like the 944 and 987 did. Great budget sports cars, but they just feel “normal” compared to the older and newer cars. Really, even into the late 00s Porsche was using some

It’s difficult. I just bought a 987.2 and have a 944. Since my dad decided to buy a 968 and there is no point in having two 3.0L transaxles, I’ll probably be selling the 944. That being said:

Assuming you have the cash to fix issues when they appear, which at $35k budget you should, the 955/957 or the VW Touareg 1 and 2 are pretty good, relatively left field choices. Low Range and good traction devices(a rear locker if you’re really lucky) mean they’re actually good off-road. Plus they’re comfy, and are

Q7 isn’t a bad choice if you get the VR6(or I assume the 3.0T, but I don’t have personal experience with it) and avoid the air suspension. I’m smitten with my Touareg, it is extremely comfy, quiet, competent and can handle mild dirt adventures. Overall, the Treg/Q7/Cayenne are a pretty stout platform if you take care

No one wants to spend a week or two in DFW. Austin/Hill Country, Crockett National Forest, Mustang Island/Port A(Corpus), NOLA/Kisatchie, or even Hot Springs Arkansas, definitely..... but DFW? Not unless you have family there, it’s basically Phoenix without the state land, and none of the pretty scenery nearby.

I feel that... even though it’s a decent deal - I wouldn’t buy this MX3 either and there’s a lot of good choices for sub $5k at the moment.

Yeah I love the 944..... I’ve got one, but I would never recommend one in the sub $4500 market. It’s going cost you another $3k+ soon after purchase, guaranteed. The timing belt, rollers, and a water pump are around $500, and it’ll probably need a clutch since it’s likely the original rubber center unit. Another

“Do as I say, not as I do” seems to be one of the mottos of the current leadership.

Wonder if our lovely Gov and Lt. Gov will be going out to shop, eat, and take in a movie this weekend?

My money is on no.

They don’t weigh that much? Even with steel bumpers, full factory skids, roof rack and 31s my XJ weighed in at just under 3700lbs. Based on a cursory search a 2000 XJ curb weight was 3300 vs the Escape at 3450. NVH, outside of typical solid axle stuff, really isn’t worse than any other unibody SUV of the era I’ve

“the wide open spaces of Arizona”

Ugh, don’t remind me. I love living in Austin, but I absolutely miss the abundant state land in Arizona which is only a cheap yearly permit away. Seeing miles of barbed wire on pretty countryside makes me so sad. Basically no reason to have a Jeep here unless I want to brave the trip

The devs have said there’s going to be a “big” expansion. Give ‘em time.

It’s a PC exclusive feature at the moment. Every truck I’ve driven so far has them. The devs have said they may add functional mirrors to the console version later.

Ah, I love the smell.

I think this car is for someone who wants a “modern Classic” Porsche, not the most performance for dollars.

The only way I’d get into a Boxster over this is with a 987.2 and here’s why - the interior design was a huge improvement from the 996/986 era, but it still used some of the awful melting, peeling rubber/plastics until the .2 gen. The .1 Boxsters also look frumpy compared to the .2. The DFI motors and the PDK were
