45k scares me, most of the 944s with low mileage do. You’d really want to do some diligence that the odometer didn’t stop at any point during its life.

My dad has a 968 cab, it drives just fine. Is it as rigid as a Boxster or an S2k? Not really. The cowl shake is pretty minor compared to many other drop tops, the entire floor had a whole bunch of steel welded in. It’s surprisingly stiff. It’s not a track car, but as a weekend cruiser for someone who doesn’t want a…
I am mildly surprised at the incentives on Wranglers around here. I think it’s a function of Austin Jeep dealers normalizing prices. People here seem too lazy to drive to Houston or Dallas to get a better deal, and they seem to know it.
I don’t do this for a living, but as someone who is always looking for Porsches here’s my take:
Everyone said the bugs in Texas would be worse than Arizona, but I don’t see it. Up in Austin, I get one or two bigly, dumb roaches in the house during dry spells, but I live near a greenbelt, and have established trees, so it’s expected. This time of year I get beetles and silverfish, but they are easy to kill.…
Ugh, remind me why we’re stuck with the ugly, pretentious, over-priced Q7 and Q8s, and don’t get the Touareg R? Oh right, Americans can’t stand the idea of a premium car without also getting a snobby badge.
Uh ....Bad? The Q7 is woeful at just about everything. No low range, poor break-over, approach, and departure angles. At least it’s still got optional air suspension, but so do the A6 Allroad and the Cayenne.
If you want a good warranty for a German car, always shop your Credit Union. I had a policy through mine, underwritten by RTE66, for my E92. Only cost around $2500 for 5 years from policy inception, and 100k on the odometer. They even pro-rated my premium when I traded the car in. My buddy got the same warranty to…
And if you had read my comment the top trim Cross Sport doesn’t add anything special over the 2015+ Lux/Wolfsburg trim Touareg (unless you really want heated rear seats and ugly 21s). If you just want to compare top trim vs top trim - fine.... you’re totally right.
51k-49k is $7,000? Today I learned. The Lux VR6 Touareg even at new MSRP(if it still existed in North America) vs. this hunk of junk is a no brainer.
Or if you really want a two row VW - just do what I did and get a lightly used Touareg. It’s a stupendous value for the money. It drives really well, can tow almost 8k lbs, is capable enough for a little mild off-roading, and it’s a lot more attractive than this thing.
The 2016 Lux, which is feature comparable to the top trim here, minus digital dash/Carplay, MSRPed just over $50k. So it’s really not a huge difference.
The Touareg is an insane used luxury SUV value. I love my V6, still gets 26mpg highway if I don’t drive like a knob. Plus 10/100K powertrain, and the insanely comfy seats What’s not to like?
Had “fun” DDs the last few years(E92 335i, Golf TDI). Went for a Touareg before the decent ones disappeared. It does everything expect for MPG and auto-x better than Golf did, but I’ve got an old Porsche for that. I was one of those never SUV people but now? Won’t go back unless my commute 3xs or something.
Back when they made the Touareg it made sense vs the XC60 and MDX. The Atlas just isn’t high quality enough to compete.
I’ve been saying that to anyone that will listen since this engine got released. They all say I’m crazy.
Even MSRP for these things is a dubious proposition.
Only the diesel and the hybrid have the 8 speed. The V6, S, and Turbos have the PDK. Doesn’t make this any less CP though.
No, it doesn’t. The Aisin was only on the shared VAG powerplants (Diesel and Hybrid).
