I saw one at the Domain in Austin last week. Some of those pesky high schoolers stopped in the crosswalk and took instas while waxing poetic about how awesome Supras are to the dude driving. Traffic wasn’t amused, but the owner sure was. I just walked by and muttered “nice BMW”, not sure if the driver heard me, but I

When I was buying my Touraeg, I chatted with the dealer manager while waiting for the paperwork to be ready(it was a slow day for them). Anyway he mentioned that VW is pretty low on Golfs and Sportwagens, and the ones that are left aren’t great, or end up going for too much money.

No tech pack or CPO coverage, but low mileage and 6MT? Reluctant CP, would be NP at $14kish. Only issue: rumor is that VW has pretty much made it through the decent TDIs with just Passats and high mileage ‘11 and ‘12 T3s left. Who knows what that will do to prices in the near term.

It’s not like Toyota is the only benevolent manufacturer that does goodwill repairs, and it’s generally far from limited to cars purchased new.

You can definitely get the Pano roof on the Trailhawk. It’s just hard to find. It comes with the Trailhawk Lux group which basically turns it into an Overland. With the active safety option you basically get everything except for the HK audio and the leather dash, which rarely looks good after a few years here in the

Some of these are actual cool cars, and I feel lame. My 2nd was a ‘12 NMS 2.5L Passat. Long story short: I was tired of my Jeep dying on University Ave. in the middle of campus, so I got a decent lease deal on the VW. Fun fact, ASU (or Tempe, who knows) removed the middle turn (breakdown, in my case) lane on

Ah I didn’t remember the extension. The Porsche CPO diesels have the same extension plus the 2/unlimited mileage coverage when it runs out, many appear in better condition than this one, and are very similarly priced. There’s no reason to buy one of these that isn’t certified unless you get a really good deal, which

Too many. I’m sure there were more than a few 5.9L and Orvis ZJs in there as well.

Yup, bought a VR6 Touareg last weekend after trying to justify the extra money for a Cayenne. So glad I did, the Terracotta interior is lovely, and the seats are amazing(and even have bolster adjustment). Has lots of stuff that was hard to find on a Cayenne too: ACC and driver assist, cooled seats, pano roof and CPO, a

Well presented? They didn’t wash it, and the leather looks like it has never been cleaned or conditioned.

It’s overpriced which is why we’re getting CP votes. I spent the better part of last month looking for a Touareg or Cayenne and this is significantly more expensive than I’ve seen a few pre-facelift Porsche CPO diesels listed. Including one with the GTS flared fenders, the GTS 21s, less miles, and red leather. Sadly

Winter? That’s the best time to work on stuff way south of the Mason-Dixon! Not sure what to do first... All I know is the 944 is finally going to get some miles now that it’s fall.

NP all day, it’ll probably need some work, but if it runs well, who cares? The clutch isn’t a fun job and the timing belt is already done. Just get in and enjoy it for a few years, then sell it for what you paid for it.

Meanwhile in Texas, my TDI has amazing AC. My commute is pretty short and if I vent the sunroof it’s chilly in just a few minutes. My e90 barely even got cool.

I don’t find my Golf TDI comfy enough, it rides worse than it should, and I can’t see around all the stupid trucks in the work parking lot. I considered a Cayenne Diesel. There are hardly any for sale, and they’re still crazy expensive. Figured I’d look at the T2 Touareg since it’s basically a Cayenne, right? Plus

Seriously, I can still get almost any mechanical part for my (relatively) limited run S2. A few things aren’t available, especially interior parts, but German marques are pretty good about keeping part stocks up. They (BMW, MB, Porsche) also really love to keep their rare cars on the road, just look at their classic

Sure, it is more expensive but even the lowly 4S is hardly slower (4s vs 3.6s to 60). The RS6 will likely pull ahead at the top end, but I’m too lazy to look for figures. I priced one, it was about 125k MSRP with sane options(nice color leather, decent exterior color, sport chrono, ACC).

Heh, I also hate ambient lighting in cars, I get enough RGB from all the computer parts lately. In a car - if it’s got a pano roof, that’s all I really need. I get it though, it does add a certain wow factor.

I was at the Audi dealer looking at a Grand Cherokee of all things, they had the only V8 Trailhawk within 200 miles. They had to dig it out of the back, so I sat in some of the new Audis while I waited, and I wasn’t impressed. It’s high quality, but way too glossy and techie. Very nice, just not my cup of tea. The

I get it, running costs are more similar than people realize.
