It’s a good value for the performance, most definitely, especially as a lease. That being said, I priced a 4s and with what I’d want (decent color inside and out, PLDS, sport chrono, ACC, Carplay), it wasn’t that much more(~10K): certainly a lot of money for me, but probably pennies for someone buying or leasing

If this is anywhere near 105K +options, I’d skip right over Audi and go get a Sport Turismo. Looks less....... angry, and I imagine the interior will age a lot better. It isn’t as fast, but I don’t think I’ll miss the extra 1s to sixty. Plus, it might actually hold some residual value, but who knows.

Not going to disagree that this beetle is CP all day, but a couple points:

Interesting, I always assumed these were significantly quicker than my 944S2, but seems they’re neck and neck to 100. Beyond that, I’m not sure. Not a huge amount of period reviews out there. Deeply impressive for a big ole sedan. It is funny how nowadays F90s roast everything short of the top dog 911s at the strip.

Guess VW has started retooling the factory in Germany.

I drove one before I bought my S2. It’s not great but, nothing really was in the early 00s. The “highest quality” premium car was the E46. The Mercs and Audis were just as God awful as the Porsches.

Porsche as a whole is “premium” in my opinion. Corvette not as much, at least historically.

I went and drove a T3 Treg last week. I really like my TDI, but have been considering something that can I can drive to AR, Big Bend, etc. do light to medium dirt stuff (nothing my very mildly modded XJ couldn’t handle) and drive back with some level of comfort. I’m also getting tired of not being able to see around

The 924 was too pretty to be a Porsche? What does that even mean? The 944 Turbo/S2, 968 and S4+ 928s were all.... way prettier than the 924.... They were some of the prettiest P-cars ever. I like the 924, but it looks dowdy in comparison.

I mean, British Leyland in the 70s when it was introduced on the Range Rover. I assume it was useful for...... whatever it is British people do in the countryside.

Man, I was excited when these were announced. Then the bad news started rolling in... dieselgate meant no hope for a TDI.... no DSG..... options locked behind stupid packages.... and limited brown interior availability, which means mandatory digital cockpit. They really took away everything that made this compelling

I mean, is it really? Plenty of E36s, 39s and 46s are manageable to own at that age. That is if you can do your own work and shop around for parts.

Can’t even remember the last time I saw a MK3 in the wild. Rarity factor is definitely there, and VR6s really are cool.

Bought one this Christmas for my dad’s 968 since he was missing it. Looks and feels exactly like it should.

Yup, mine is an S2 as well, sweet 80s Burgundy interior and factory LSD! Always been my favorite Porsche. I got rid of my N54 335i and got the S2 and a MK6 TDI to beat up on everyday. My dad decided he needed a 968, like, two weeks after my S2 came off the truck, so it must be some kind of disease.

Is $1550 insulting and was advising them to take it bad? Yes, that being said:

The 996 interior isn’t a nice place to be. It’s ugly, and the materials are worse than the E46. Really, they’re on par with my oval dash 944. It’s distressing as the M3 MSRPed for $20,000 less. It’s understandable as 911 = sports car, but still, it’s incredible how far Porsche has come.

You’re not wrong. The 996 doesn’t deserve any of the hate it gets, it’s an excellent Porsche, I almost bought one.... almost.

It’s even worse if you despise the “clean coal” or “pebble beach” themed interiors. I know that these days you can get a Camry with red leather. That being said, if people buying M3s, 911s, and Ferraris don’t order interesting interiors, why in the world would Toyota buyers?

I go back and forth on this being a purely numbers based exercise. I think its interesting to think about what else you can get for similar money. The tagline reads “Is this used car a good deal? You decide!”. Most of us, myself included, don’t have access to Manheim’s results. We all know that asking prices aren’t
