@SophT: Not really. I'm using an old machine that couldn't even run XP smoothly, but with Linux pared down to only the apps I need, it actually runs really fast, booting in seconds (well below the 2-10 minute boot times of XP).

@Whitson Gordon: Did anyone actually read clause 5 of the Evernote TOS? It says (in a very key point):

Still waiting on a Linux guide. Some of us don't want the bloatware of Windows overloading the processor & wasting RAM.

@GrinderRobot: Really? 'cause I regularly have a minimum of 40+ tabs open, and it rarely passes 200 K of RAM.

@BrettKS: You could always use the method that I do (still don't have my Android phone... and the current one runs Symbian, so no love from Google), if you set up a "calling card" on your phone, just have the access number be your gV#. Then, have the "pin" be whatever it takes for you to dial out from your gV panel

@BrettKS: The "no" is saying that it will not actually call "via" your gV number. Your gV number will show up as the caller ID, so it will appear that your gV number has called the person on the other end, but the number that your phone actually dials will be the 406# which is associated with the contact you are

@BrettKS: No, it won't. The 406 numbers are a way to "directly" call your contact by calling a number that Google has assigned to them when that number is called from a phone on your gV account. Essentially, the process goes:

@chris0089: The settings? Umm... "Start"? I didn't have to adjust any settings, and it ran perfectly fine.. It even had all the voices. (I did have to extract the ISO into a directory, I haven't been able to find a good CD image mounting program for Linux yet.. I miss virtual clone drive, but I'm not going back

@geenasnuttan: Problem: My home office has "wood" floors & my chair has wheels... Even having the printer on the other side of the room doesn't really help... it's just motivation to "chair-pinball" myself across the room (pushing off of whatever I'm close to until I roll to where I need to be); fun, but not

@heytherefancypants: I don't have much of a choice... that's the kind of alarm I'm stuck with as well. But it seems to have it's own random schedule which is rarely ever what I want.

@AustinFound: Wow! ..and you're able to set it to wake you up at any time you want it to, day or night? /s

@chris0089: I didn't have any trouble with that... but I was running it off the ISO I still have from when I first backed up all my CDs (unfortunately, DOTT is one of the CDs that wore out a long time ago).

@Dafrety: This link was mentioned in a previous comment... I'll be getting my new casters/wheels from there:

@Axel-the-482nd: *hands Axel a cloth* "does this smell like chloroform to you?"

Is it Bacon?

Something that actually works (unlike the process in the video):

I usually spend about $10 - $20 when I buy sunglasses, but that gets me 5 pairs or more at an average of $2-$4 per pair.

@mixxster: Try Avast Home edition. It's free, and it's always kept my computer (and the ones I repair/rebuild for friends) perfectly clean. It's also caught tons of things that McAfee and Norton missed.
