I’ve heard this law argued about a bit and I always want to say in response to the well-meaninh(?) but misguided comment, “Well I’m for this law because I’d want to know if my daughter was in such a situation and be able to be there for here, even if it was to seek an abortion...” I always want to say, “yeah but you

Whew. I feel much better knowing Harden won’t have to defend anything here.

I don’t get it . . . What’s strange about a bunch of white people at a white power rally?

Brazilian here. Although the article is factually correct, I think it would be useful to expand the information a bit, in order to get more context. Since I already sort of did that with my comment in the article about the Italian woman burnt alive by an ex-boyfriend, here it goes:

The fact that she’s being read as a man is my point, because to people like that cop, that’s what trans women are: men. You really think that your average joe understands the subtle distinctions of gender expression and sex and trans identities? This cop is vaguely aware of “mentally ill men who think they’re women”

You seem to be missing the point that if you’re a cis woman, you have an inherent legal right to be in the women’s bathroom. I simply do not. And because society segregates things like bathrooms by sex, and conflates sex with gender, the only legal protection for my mandatory bodily functions is blending in and hoping

You got victim blaming out of what I said? No, the point is that sometimes the makeup isn’t just about how we express ourselves: sometimes it’s also about covering up the 5 o’clock shadow so we don’t get targeted by things like bathroom laws. Because if this woman was actually arrested, she could sue the police

I’m not trying to play Oppression Olympics here, and if it came across that way I apologize. I was trying to establish a basis of comparison for the sake of mutual understanding. The fact that the things that make you weary of certain aspects of femininity are the same root causes as why we embrace and focus on

Tattoos hardly indicate anything.

I don't like the comments I'm reading on here. Yea they ran from the cops, but basically saying because they ran from the cops they deserved to die is just as wrong as them running from the cops. They may have been bad apples but they still should have survived to be held accountable for their actions.

I’m going to just repost what I said yesterday over on Gawker’s article. I’ve highlighted the part that any anti-vaxxer reading this should pay close attention to.

Wrong. Humorous, but wrong.

Author here (IN THE GREYS). A couple points. First, then-Senator Obama’s support for a filibuster was based on his gripes with Justice Alito’s ideology. So far, it looks like any GOP filibuster would be based on...running out the clock on any nominee regardless of their beliefs. It’s OK for senators to disapprove of a

So...uh...I don’t want to be a pedant here, but “Supported the possibility of a filibuster” and “Actually filibustered” are two VERY different things.

This whole process will be fascinating. I couldn’t figure out why it took so long to pick a nominee (most regular vetting wouldn’t take this long) and then I realized it had to be both someone with an unimpeachable record AND someone who was willing to be nominated, knowing they may never be confirmed.

Listening to the

I think you mean Reverse Freedom braid.

Uh, not a U.S. Supreme Court judge. A New York state judge. New York state trial courts are called “Supreme Courts” (even though they are actually the lowest courts in NY, not the highest as you might think given the word “Supreme”).
