Gotta agree here- Half-Life is best because the plot gets out of the way, and you’re right about the lack of gameplay innovation. Arguably they even made matters worse by codifying a certain style of highly scripted set-piece based shooter.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will always have a special place in my cold, mechanical synapses. The game is ultimately about moving on from change, about mourning, and learning not to cling to something that’s already dead and half just dreamed up anyway.
