My guess is the heels were left over when they decided to simplify the legs and feet and make them one part. On the original design the feet would have folded back do give the jet mode a more streamlined look.

Looks like the heel replacements are back on sale:
Aye, the heels are just plain bad. There was a poster over at TFW2005 working on making a set of wedges on shapeways to replace them, but they have been unavailable for sale.
I can't wait until he shows up in the mail,
Just to point out, the one with the solid black feet, is the original release with super loose heels and the red and black feet version has tighter, but still somewhat problematic heels.
A 3rd party "Transformer" is an original designed toy that often homages a real Transformer character, but avoids using the original names and symbols to be "legal" not made by Hasbro or Takara. A knock off is a copy, often lower quality, of toy made by Hasbro or Takara and would have no qualms trying to pass off as…
Its best to get over the hope of finding Hasbro's stuff on pegs and just preorder/order from BBTS or TF Source.
And other other dragons wonder why her mother got pissed and him assassinated.
I hope that is a joke.
Someone needs to beat this guy upside the head with a bust of Hippocrates.
You are ignoring the issues with the triggers not working for most games due to the drivers.
Current rumors from trusted posters over at TFW2005 Supreme class Devastator made up of voyager sized figures and Defensor was hinted at via TRU computer info. The mold used for Hot Spot would likely then have retooled parts and be used for Onslaught. Devastator's Autobot equivalent was suppose to be the train…
Omega Supreme was all right, but Sentinel was the better of the then, 2 versions, though that was until 2012's Platinum version. But yeah Prime + Wingsaber was the best Autobot toy combo out of that line.
Intimidator will likely stay on my self as my "Menasor" but I'm still gonna pick up the Combiner Wars as it has a weird kind of charm to it despite the flaws.
You do realize the G1 combiners, the Aerialbots in particular were just that and that other then the new Silverbolt none of the limb bots are even close to that, given that they have to 4 working modes.
What you can't tell from his picture is the combiner ports for the arms are about an inch behind the torso, which is the worse offense in my eye regarding that mold.
The Energon Decepticons and most Cybertron figures were the best figures Hasbro and Takara ever done. Now Armada and the Energon Autobot figures yeah, those were terrible designs.
Still the tacking on the extra figure for the chest and then doing a add on kit to make it look more like he should have from the start was a turn off for. I've gone with the universe recolor of the Energon molds with the Fansproject kit and the newer upgrade kit with the extra shoulders and feet add ons. Though I'm…
Of course the real highlight of Energon Optimus was combining him him with Wingsaber.
The thing is Skydive and Air Raid are different enough that the only part reuse is the front of the legs and the fore arms, pretty everything else is different. Air Raid's arms fold in like Fireflight/fly's instead of rotating like Skydive's and of course the completely different jet form. Hasbro should have released…
