Wow... what weird timing. I just watched a Nova documentary celebrating Hubble and there she was in interviews, etc.

And she had the thankless job of securing funding for basic science (astronomy) at the height of the cold war where the project purpose in a funding request required the statement, “to beat the godless soviet commie pinkos.” The present era of billionaire gentlemen space enthusiasts (Musk, Bezos, Branson) owe her a

I think she was someone who didn’t let such barriers stand in the way of her curiosity. Here’s a lovely recent interview that shows how ‘down to earth’ this astronomer was:

RIP.

Oooh. I’m excited to see what they do with them!

Actually, they didn’t lie. BBC said there would be no old villains in the 10 episode series.  And there weren’t.  Nothing was said about no old villains outside of the series.  New Year’s special is in continuity but not part of the regular series

Sigh. I wanted it to be the return of Fenric. The teaser dialog made it sound like a perfect in for Fenric’s return.

Technically not a lie. They said no old villains during the first season. The first season ended two weeks ago.

Like who would they lose the rights to? They created them.

This is truly dalektable news!!!

Garak’s last scene of the series was heartbreaking. His lament about the art, literature, architecture, and scientific minds of Cardassia that were destroyed by the Dominion still chokes me up.

Within a minute, I knew you were talking about Nog :-)

To me, the most telling thing about how much character development there was in Deep Space Nine is that the next time the Voyager docks at DS9, Harry Kim will have to salute the guy who likely bused his table off-screen in the “Caretaker” pilot for Star Trek: Voyager.

Neat I’m glad that multiple someones care that intensely about the show.

Reading his whole letter, it’s pretty clear he started keeping records of her posts after it became known to him that she was accusing him of rape, which is probably a good idea if somebody is accusing you of having done something.  I don’t think he was cyber-stalking her, just keeping records of the accusations to

Keeping a record of what an accurser says for proof of changes, which most often indicates lying, is not acting guilty. It’s smart, and the best defense you’ll have.

When some starts accusing you of things you should keep a record if said things are false you can use those to get a restraining order or take them to court for slander.

Non-religious and atheist do not mean left-wing or progressive. There are a surprising number of atheist libertarians, for example, who do not need religion to find reasons for social conservatism.

The thing is, right wingers see these things as no lose. Accuse someone they dislike and harm their reputation. Accusations get shot down, then claim the left wing people are “selective” about their views. Person gets run out of town and they eliminated an opposing voice. The only time they really lose is when someone
