I though Aiden killing off the kid was bold, and probably the right thing to have done. The clip above shows my favorite part of that scene at 1:16 in. It looks like Aidan has bloody residue under his fingernails, and is crying. Reminds us that even though vampires are killers by nature, they can and do feel

Good tip, trying to promote this comment by replying.

There have been some bio-mechanical studies of whether humanoid winged flight might be possible or not. Some of this speculation was centered around the concept of angels of course. In short, to get something human to fly under it's own power in normal gravity would require some very significant changes to the basic

What I find fascinating about Bob Ross personally is that he is a white dude that makes a big old 'fro look good on him after 1980.

Well, it seems I have to correct myself on the LeGuin title I recommended. It is in fact the The Left Hand of Darkness wherein is the human subspecies has neither sex until it is time to breed, then they can become either.

The Russian Trilogy by CJ Cherryh is awesome! I thought it was an excellent idea at the time it was published in that it used an mostly unfamiliar to folklore and mythology (well unfamiliar to most westerners). Definitely a cautionary tale of being careful of what you wish for! She's probably my favorite author.

I know! New stories by Beagle is awesome news. I think he's one of my favorite fantasy authors.

There are a couple of things that come to mind regarding those without gender. On the SF Front there is Ursula K. LeGuin's The Dispossed, where her human subspecies has neither sex until it is time to breed, then they can become either, then revert to genderless beings after their "heat."

Having vibrissae (whiskers) would be pretty cool. They are very touch sensitive, and even have a special blood sinus at their base that increases the tactile sensation. Some animals can even use them to detect air movements.

There is the amazing Clarkesworld Magazine

Cool, I must have missed that. Interesting as to why he's back, maybe it has something to do with a return of this TARDIS-like machine that got away at the end of "The Lodger"?

Is it just me or does the person with Matt Smith in the first picture look like the actor James Corden who played Craig Owens in the Doctor Who episode "The Lodger"? Here's his Wiki:

If anyone would like to e-read At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft, you can do so for free. Almost of his works are public domain. Here's a link to it via Feedbooks in various e-formats. I think it's my favorite by HPL:

Now playing

Del-Torro & Lovecraft, a perfect pairing from beyond! This makes me so happy, I had to listen to The Shoggoth Song.

Moth Man is one hella scary movie! Note to self, if landline telephones which have been pulled out of the wall begin to ring, do not answer them.

For anyone interested in the whole controversy of the re-classification of Pluto, I'd like to suggest the NOVA Episode The Pluto Files, which can be watched for free on-line here:

Janeway :)

@noendernemesis: That's a pretty good idea you have there about an io9 article about him. I was just thinking you should have hashtagged your post with #tips to call it to the attention of the editors and it might happen. Alternately, you could go over to Tips under Forums and post the idea.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and call shenanigans on this whole supposed movie. I first thought it was someone's bad idea of a joke, then was convinced by articles like this one that it will really be made and shown. Then I went to the movie's official web-site, keep in mind anyone can put up a website & make

I'm trying so hard not to enter the words "petrodactyl erotica" from the last paragraph into a search engine. Rule 34 says it must exist, and I do not want to know . . .
