Well, insurance companies sure think SUVs are more dangerous to pedestrians, and if anyone would know, it’s the guys with the armies of actuaries.
There are a few things out there that point to correlation/causation for SUVs. Heres one thing ive read that touches upon it.
1st gear - youre correct re: fuel efficiency but an understated problem is that there is a strong correlation in an increase in pedestrian deaths coming along right as the crossover/SUV boom has happened.
My autistic son is smarter than a lot of these people.
