I'm currently itching to go back and replay the early MGSV story mission I finished the other night. It was a long sneak through multiple outposts, and the prisoner I was tailing eventually got murdered while I was busy launching dudes into the stratosphere with balloons. He probably has good stats for back and Mother

It's a very game-like form of storytelling. One of my favorite things about the Souls games is how they entwine the fiction and gameplay as tightly as possible. There are even in-universe explanations for your character respawning, though Bloodborne's is a bit of a spoiler.

My revulsion at the protagonist was immediate and complete. It's like they focus tested him for maximum d-baggery. Also, I still can't believe that Ubisoft called his design "iconic" with a straight face.

Pre-ordering is mostly stupid, especially now that publishers are doing "Day One Editions" so you can still get any bonus content provided you buy before they burn the second round of discs.

He was just following in his original partner's footsteps… of being terrible at but passionate about his work.

I'm definitely on team Manhunter, though it fits much better alongside To Live and Die in LA than with the rest of the Hannibal mythos.

ProTip: if you ever get far enough into the game that you desire to use the fast travel system, always manually save before doing so. The game crashed on me and somehow autosaved mid crash. My last manual save had been ages earlier, so I promptly deleted the game.

Having finished the game yesterday (quick review: 7/10) I can't for the life of me figure out how anyone could miss the ending. Either Mr. Teti fell prey to a nasty glitch or he is somehow really bad at the game, which would actually be kind of impressive in a weird way.

I'm out of town for most of the weekend, but am hoping to finish up Everybody's Gone to the Rapture when I get back. It's currently a solid 7/10 for me, but could easily drop if they don't stick the landing with the story. (It could go up, too, but that's somewhat less likely.)

So between Yelp, Angie's List, and the BBB, it is basically inevitable that these type of organizations will eventually discover the juicy revenue stream of being super unethical, no?

I'm totally the opposite. I felt like the first Amnesia's lamp lighting system, along with a good portion of the enemy encounters, were just padding the story out. (Not to mention how mastering gameplay systems deflates tension.)

That does seem like the most useful information a reviewer could provide, considering the genre. Which other walking simulators did you enjoy or not, for taste triangulation.

Walking Simulators tend to live and die based on how well you connect with the story and ambiance, since by definition there isn't much else going on. I really liked Dear Esther and Machine for Pigs, but could never get into Gone Home.

What a novel and unique look for a band!

So Quantum Break is a high production value, generic shooter with TV show length, live action cutscenes between levels? Pass.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it is. (Though I also found it humorous that he immediately demands the next test subject without apparently changing anything about the experiment, like he's just sitting there turning lamb after lamb into goo, fingers crossed that it'll work this time.)

Is the acrimony really necessary? I'd prefer to not continue shitting on a movie I really liked because commenters are offended that I disagree with them over a weak plot element.

Sigh. Obviously the suit mustn't be working at the beginning. The whole thing is just the screenplay making sure that the villain hasn't already won before the movie starts, but can still pop into the suit to fight at the end.

That gives me an idea: they should make a bunch of standalone features where they have to call in the rest of the gang just for the big final battle. It's just Cap or Thor or whoever for the first two acts and then they have to call in the whoever's contracts haven't yet expired to help when the stakes get raised for

Damn. A Simpsons reference just went over my head. Now I really do need to commit ritual suicide with the shards of a Blu ray.
