Don't most people have media buttons on their keyboards these days? I find these software media controls to be quite pointless when the Macbook has hardware keys.

Rdio is the greatest music service hands down. I still don't understand the Spotify hype when the US has had this for a while.

If you have snow leopard at work, try to get the snow leopard disk. Then you can update to snow leopard and then get lion from the app store. Will also be quite annoying and may take a long time, but you'll have all your stuff in place at least.

You can do a clean install from a homemade lion disk. It'll be a pain to backup and restore all your files and apps though, so i wouldn't recommend it.

Runs great on my 2.26 c2d with 4gb RAM.

I switched from VLC to MPlayerX. Just looks awesome and I love the multitouch support. I even made it my default for all videos, even for videos Quicktime is capable of playing. I've never had any issues with it regarding video playback quality.

What is the best, free service to upload/backup my photo library? I sync my documents with Dropbox, but 2GB isn't enough for my 70+ gigs of pictures. I'm backed up locally, but I'd like a cloud backup as well. Any suggestions?

I think it uses push notifications, so the app can be completely killed but still refresh every time there's a change in weather.

i use sidereel. it's a great site and has an iphone app (and possible android, not sure) that sends push notifications to alert you 10 minutes before a new episode of a show you watch airs
