This sort of purity testing BS is going to be what buries the left in the end and keeps the Republicans in power.

I don’t think the idea here was to provide thoughtful analysis; and I seriously question the extent to which someone who writes a hacky Page 6 ripoff for an online sometimes-tabloid, is actually/sincerely/genuinely iconoclastic enough to be a legit communist if favor of the expropriation of private property.

This is getting fucking ridiculous. Yes, rents need to be controlled so people can’t hike the every year and make cities unlivable, but there is nothing inherently immoral about owning properties and renting them out at a fair price. I’m dizzy from the amount of times I rolled my eyes reading this idiocy.

Yeah, tell me this; without the existance of a rental option, would any of these people be able to buy land on their own? The writter seems to think that landlords are still the rich entitled lords that basically turned serfs into renters. This is, however the 21st, not 18th century, and if someone wants to invest

Probably because so much of what passes for being progressive online is taking ideologically sexy but wildly unrealistic positions and then shitting all over people who don’t match those positions 100%

A Marxist analysis of property (or really any economic activity where paying rents is required) seems to be inherently flawed, since Marxism as I understand it doesn’t really think that rent is a moral/viable requirement. If Joan wants to get into dollars and cents when she’s analyzing property ownership through a

I have no issues with Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard owning a building and I think they’re being really good landlords by not charging rent for April. It’s decent and I wish my apartment complex would do the same.

I’m 90% sure I won’t make it out of the gray’s because it seems in today’s society even simply asking a question automatically pits you against someone...but I’m sincerely curious about this. Do that many people really believe that Hillary lost because almost half of our country is sexist?

*not sure what your point is.

I’m honestly sure what your point is, and I don’t think it’s fair to say that “her camp has switched its story of the meeting” since that NYT description of the meeting is not attributed in any way to anyone in her camp.

I don’t know any Warren supporters who think Bernie made that statement out of sexism. He did make it though, probably as part of a larger context about the nature of politics in the Trump era. I’m not offended by it.

The specific context of those comments was discussing their potential candidacies. So, you also have to consider the non-zero possibility that the comment wasn’t intended to be innocuous by Bernie, but was instead him trying to keep her out of the race. And considering that the CNN story cites other people she told

To be fair to Bernie, most of us have wondered whether a woman can win in 2020. Some of us are skeptical a woman can because we are a country of sexist asshats”

Plenty of Warren supporters are also on that train. Someone on another thread talked about “what she said Bernie said” and... she actually hasn’t said what he said! She just said they disagreed, which leaves a big Venn diagram of things he could have said. Some of his side is trying to claim she’s a liar when she

If you read the statement from Warren, she never implied that Sanders said something sexist.  Sanders supporters and Sanders himself have chosen to read into her statement what was not actually said.

I am a Warren supporter with a husband who likes both her and Bernie. In all our conversations about the two, he keeps bringing up the fact that this country isn’t ready for a woman president. HE thinks she’s the best candidate, but he doesn’t think the COUNTRY is ready. I don’t think it registers with him that I find

As a fellow Warren supporter, this is the correct take. I don’t doubt that Bernie made remarks about the electability of a woman candidate, because he was probably saying what we’ve all thought in the wake of 2016: wait, is this country too sexist to elect a woman? I personally believe it isn’t, which is part of why I

could you like... invent some kind of machine that beams this message into the skulls of literally everyone

Warren has been tagged a “liar” by the GOP for a while now. Any story on Fox is accompanied by dozens to hundreds of people calling her a liar.

Don’t tell me, tell the NYT.
