Sorry, never saw this note.  I haven’t towed with it yet.   Funny story, I actually tried to convince my brother to let me take his new camper for the day so I could test it out.  He looked at me like I had two heads (not because of the truck, which would be fine towing it).

Totally agree. Anecdotally, in the last 10 years or so - I frequently will have on-coming traffic driving on the yellow line towards me. This never used to happen and I can only assume its distracted drivers.

A foot bridge is a great idea here - even with the intersection - to increase safety for all. This works extremely well for the high-trafficked North Ave beach foot bridge over LSD a couple miles north of the area in question.

Yeah, I’m thinking the drivers believe it’s OK to run the light because there isn’t any intersecting traffic, and either forget about the crosswalk or don’t care.

it was closed for Lollapalloza only

That was my first thought when I read “10 lanes”

It’s not - those are barriers put up for the festivals held right there in Grant Park (and Millenium Park).  They are temporary.

The area adjacent to this intersection is two large contiguous parks, in which many extremely large festivals are held over the summer.  When those festivals are being set up or ongoing, Balbo Drive is sometimes blocked off, as it is in this photo/video.  As yet another person very familiar with this intersection is

Chicago itself has many pedestrian bridges with gentle ramps, around the museums and stadiums.

I used to live in an city with a 10 lane crosswalk from apartments to a elementary school. When the crossing guards were out, the major road would be pretty much brought to a stand still. When the crossing guards weren’t out, it was only a matter of time before someone got splattered by the constant stream of

This! Just build these. Problem solved.

I too wonder why there isn’t a food bridge over the 10 lane highway. 10 lanes is crazy to try to cross as a pedestrian!

You can do it using some parts from all the gm years, square, OBS, and some in between models. Here’s a a list of the front end parts to do it on pretty much any 63 - 87 GM Truck with about 4 inches of lift. It’s good for 33's all around.

100% this, this isn’t designed for running high speed in the desert. Plus the Raptor and especially the TRX are just MASSIVE and wide. They are barely able to fit in a standard parking sport big. This seems much more sensible for daily use especially when you consider how little time trucks like these ACTUALLY spend

The A-Arms are a custom long travel setup, which was kind-of mentioned in the post, although not very clearly.

Never once have I been crawling a trail and thought, “What I really need is 700 fucking horsepower.”

The tech prided the friction material away from the backing plate of the brake pads.

I have had several cases where the friction material let go from the backing plate where they are bonded together.  One was on a set of pads that was less than a week old.

From the description of using a screwdriver and a hammer it sounds like they broke the friction material from the brake pad backing plate, causing a separation.

As far as the 12" touch screen, I do most of my long-hauling at night, I like to dim things down and I didn’t want a huge screen in my face. The 8.4 was still a standard option with the 12" being $1200 more, and is a good mix of tech and tactile:
