Your example is the perfect one that covers the conundrum most buyers are facing. The “fuel” savings does not cover the spread in up front cost.

The TCO of the EV is not lower for the average buyer who only keeps a car 3-4 years.

You are right, some people do not care about the TCO - but there are plenty who do. The higher up front cost of an EV and even some Hybrids compared to the up front cost of an equivalent ICE vehicle is still very high. In some cases it will take more than 100,000 miles of driving an ICE vehicle before the cost of gas…

Until the TCO of an EV is below that of an equivalent ICE - adoption is going to stall for the masses.

I have been saying that since it came out. The beltline on it and the stance/ground clearance clearly define it as a Hatchback Sedan. It is the same shape as a Golf - just slightly bigger.
