If we are going to make blanket statements that large vehicles are bad we have to include delivery trucks and Semi-Trucks.... But getting your license to operate a Semi-Truck requires training.

The biggest point being “in the hands of the inept” - The vehicle size is not the problem, it is the bad driver and lack of training.

Just because it is hard to do, does not mean it is not worth doing.

- drivers need to be held more accountable to hitting pedestrians and cyclists.

Don’t need one, that is my point. I have a 2inch lift and 34.5 inch Open Country tires and do just fine.

But that is not what they were selling was it?

Yeah, I think the Z71 part of it is sorta a farce.... will have have a rear locking Dif? What level of off-roading are we looking at here?

Your comment makes zero sense. Z71 packages on midsize SUV’s are not killing anyone. If you want to advocate for something, advocate for Distracted Driving to be punished with the same Vigor as Drunk Driving.

I never said driver error has nothing to do with why cross traffic is more dangerous than freeway traffic.

Either way you are blaming peoples freewill and market choice on deaths that are not directly caused by the purchase of any specific size vehicle.

Going Significantly faster or slower than traffic accounts for less than 1% of drivers on the freeways. yes everyone complains when they see it, but it truly is a rare occurrence when you have hundreds of thousands of vehicles traveling the freeways each and every day.

I have a better idea for your headline: “Driving a smaller vehicle has a higher likely hood of death in the event you get in a collision with a larger one”

That has nothing to do with why roads with cross traffic are more dangerous than roads without cross traffic.

Sure, and the Rav 4 is more of a cross over, that is why it has more ground clearance and sits higher in the air.

a bit shorter? It is lower to the ground than most sedans. I see them all the time around here in San Diego, they are Hatchbacks, not SUV’s.

That is part of it, but a bigger part of why those roads are safer is the lack of cross traffic.

Lets focus on the fact that this applies to any street with cross traffic.

STOP CALLING IT AN SUV.

You cannot patent the process of filming with an LED screen in the background to provide a backdrop. That cat is out of the bag and will become standard practice in the industry just like any other filming techniques used today.
