yeah the last mile is the biggest issue for me, besides me sometimes having to visit our Satellite locations to take care of things. I just checked and from the nearest train station it is 5.2 miles and and elevation gain of 433 feet.

Where do you live?

There has to be balance for sure. In urban sprawl area’s public transport is difficult to implement, homes are too spread out. Works best in area’s where people live in apartment buildings.

Agreed, also good public transit options are needed in conjunction with highways. The western half of the US was built AROUND the automobile, thus the infrastructure and city design is around driving your own vehicle. Suburban sprawl has made this even worse in the last 50 years.

Yeah until 2019 the 5 was pretty bad most days, I bought a motorcycle in 2010/2011 specifically for my commute so I could split lanes cause in the afternoons going north it was easily 90 min for 30ish miles. Back then I was working in PB... haha.

May I present a counter argument.

The big difference between GMC and Chevy is that GMC does not sell to rental agencies.

This is way more reasonable. The hyduai Inoic5 is NOT an SUV, but gets the tax credit because it is heavy...... such a joke.

The Silverado and Sierra are mechanically the same vehicle, even the interior is mostly identical, just some different headlamps and sheet metal.

That is disgusting.

That is slight compared to how much larger my Suburban is than it.......

It is still small compared to anything but the most compact SUV’s - but then it sits close to the ground like a sedan, not an Truck - SUV’s are derived from trucks. Anything called a crossover is not an SUV IMO, it is a tall Sedan. These cars are everywhere in San Diego - I see them on a daily basis, they look like a

118 inch wheel base is still very small, my biggest issue with the ioniq5 being given the SUV designation is it sit so low to the ground like a sedan. I really despise the term crossover and in general feel that the line between what should be a truck based vehicle (even if it is Unibody) verses a car based vehicle

It is tiny. I own a Silverado and a Suburban, it is tiny. I see them all the time on the freeway, they are smaller than a Crown Victoria. Yes it is slightly larger than a golf, but still smaller than a full size sedan or even a mid size sedan.

Yep, and the industry has reported that vehicles owners are keeping their vehicles much longer than they have in the past.

Thanks for the pictures to back up my statement. The Ionic is just a hair bigger than a Golf, where the Defender 90 hood hits Doug well above his beltline and the bottom of the doors are way higher off the ground. The bottom of the car doors on the Hyundai and the VW are both very close to the ground, almost exactly

The MAJOR change to what manufacturers are calling “SUV”s is such a Joke.

In San Diego County the lots are full with both new and used inventory. That does not mean the off-site storage lots are full, but the local car dealership area in Carlsbad is filled with overpriced cars.

Agreed, just a pissing contest with no meaning for the “winner”.

Total vehicles sales might have been down in 2022, but dealer profits were sky high.... Would be nice to see those 2 things reported on together since dealer markups are partly to blame for low sales in some cases. I visited a lot a few months ago and there was literally a line item on the sticker that said “Dealer
