Maybe the guy who did the video in this article could video that as well. The more I talk to the locals on this site the more my idea of a pedestrian foot bridge over this 10 lane highway is a good idea.

What I meant is the behavior of drivers is going to be different when there is no cross traffic verses when cars are coming out of Balbo. The video only showed how traffic is behaving under what I am learning is a very rare occurrence (the closing of access from Balbo) - What is it like under normal “intersection”

Thanks for the clarification. If that park is used to host festivals and such does the city force the festival planners to use the Police to monitor traffic and the crosswalk during the event? That is usually what happens with large events in San Diego. Having the traffic police generally helps a ton and YES, they

So it is there to tell the rental car company if the drivers are using the vehicle to hand brake turn it on a desert back road to get it to spin in a circle......

Maybe? I guess we would need case studies from other intersections where Red Light camera’s were put in, did they actually reduce instances of red lights being run? Did they make it safer for pedestrians - injuries and death numbers from before and after the camera was installed, etc.

I do not have those answers, it could be a temporary solution until a wall can be put up to close it off, or they might have plans to re-design the intersection before it is re-opened? No matter what, if people are getting killed or getting hit with major injuries something needs to change.

As of the filming of that video it is not an active intersection as the side road is blocked. It is more akin to a freeway with a cross walk on it.

Look at the video in the twitter feet and in the gif they pulled from it. That side street is closed and there is no traffic coming or going from that side street.

Red light Camera’s might make a difference, but I have my doubts about that. Most were removed in California because the stats showed they made intersections more dangerous and since we have a right to face our accuser in court, and a camera cannot show up to court anyone can get the ticket dismissed pretty easily.

From the video linked it looks like that side street is not open. At the time this was filmed that was NOT an intersection since there was no intersecting traffic allowed. Maybe that has changed since this video was taken?

Not sure about Chicago or where you are from, but the Pedestrian Bridges in California all have ramps with a gentle grade, no stairs. While it is not ideal I am assuming it must meet ADA guidelines for what is need to accommodate those in a Wheelchair.

Does not look like that is an intersection, so the red light’s sole purpose is for pedestrian crossing.

So the City is installing Gymkhana Course Markers on Public Streets?

I would love to see a writeup or behind the scenes video on the making of that truck. Those custom wide fenders are cool.

Exactly, the lack of extra wide fenders is a selling point in GM’s favor.

Why does an off-road vehicle that is focusing on trails need 700 HP?
