Lol. Aww, I love New Orleans. I can see how it’s not for everyone, though. Of course, it helps if you venture beyond Bourbon Street or even the French Quarter in general. I haven’t yet seen a turd, but yes, there’s puke. The first time I visited, I just threw away my shoes at the end of the trip.

Seconded. My wife and I went for our honeymoon as “somewhere to go” that wasn’t Europe and was a reasonable flight time for a five-day stint. We stayed at the Ritz, which was great, but otherwise you could have told us we were in Florida and we wouldn’t have known. Won’t be going back ever again, I don’t think.

cancun...i went with my wife in `09 (right after the cdc had cleared travel there, after some sort of flu outbreak, so tickets were dirt cheap...like i paid $800 for two r/t tickets from baltimore, and 4 nights at the intercontinental...)

I did not expect Paris to be nearly as expensive as it was. Everything from the local food prices, to entry into museums, to hotels far away from any landmarks were all incredibly expensive. It certainly taught me to look at local economy prices before traveling so I do not overspend quite so egregiously just on
