Yes it is brutal but it is also reality. There are parents out there who abuse their children both mentally and physically.

As Elliot said in the very first episode of the first season, Angela has a habit of attracting/falling for complete douche bags.

I just wanna see a lot of goody two-shoes parents drag their young kids to see this movie, thinking it's a Pixar family movie, not knowing it'll be the complete opposite and it's too much to cope for them, but, of course, the kids will handle it.

I hope we see more scenes with Angela and Ellliot engaging. As much as I love how dark this schow is, those Angela-Elliot scenes provide a glimpse of warmth which makes for a well balanced story arc.
