The biggest pull for the Tahoe and Yukon was always the small block V8.  It is the keep it simple stupid engineering principle that keeps people buying them.  Other manufacturers have gone to DOHC V8's then twin-turbo V6's, GM has stuck with the pushrod V8 and people will keep buying them forever.
