I just have a healthy distrust of parking brake cables due to having a very slack one in an older car I owned.  That and the area I lived in at the time being quite hilly led to always leaving the car in gear.

Polestar needs to do something to differentiate from Volvo. As a car enthusiast I know they are different and separate but I’m not sure if the common public does.  Also, at this point Volvo seems to be making the superior EV’s and has the better dealer network.  Polestar historically has been the performance oriented

With any of these EV’s if you can wait until they come off lease they will be so depreciated you can get them for super cheap CPO’d with under 30k miles.  Luxury EV prices fall off a cliff within the first year and they may still qualify for tax rebates.

Strictly from an EV perspective (which is where the grant money is supposed to go) Ford is beating GM and Stellantis. I feel like in terms of EV’s Ford is playing the game correctly and the government needs to incentivize GM and Stellantis to do better.  I’m also still bitter that the government constantly has to give

Indonesia, Savannah, Georgia, New Zealand, and Greece.” When listing places in a group it is important to be consistent with countries, states, counties, etc. This quote being a prime example because while Georgia is a country it is also important to note this is most likely referring to Savannah the city in Georgia

1st Gear: Is Ford getting any grants or is this the usual thing where the govt. gives money to GM and Stellantis because Ford is the only one that can successfully operate itself.  Anecdotally, I’ve seen severl Mach-E’s and Lightnings around but not very many GM EV’s and certainly not a single Stellantis EV- not sure

I sat in a 4th Gen LS (‘06+) at an auto show and it had by far the softest leather of any car I’ve ever sat in. All the German’s kept the stiffly bolstered super slick leather that they’ve made forever. Lexus is the only leather that could accurately be described as “supple”.  I would agree that they are certainly one

The last Lincoln sedan was the Continental and it looked pretty darn cushy. The last comfy one before that was the 2002 Continental and the 2011 Town Car

Mid 80's Lincoln Town Car. It was literally like sitting on a couch while driving. The suspension was so soft it wallowed around the turns. Driving was more akin to operating a boat than driving a car.

For me it would be a modern Dodge Dakota (or I guess RAM Dakota now).  Especially if they brought back the regular cab long bed (my ‘91 had an 8' bed).  Throw in that new hurricane engine and a 6 speed manual with 4x4 and it’d be perfect.

Like a crane game type situation?

always, always, leave the car in gear in a stick shift.  If the parking brake fails the car won’t move.

My biggest gripe about my 4runner is the fuel economy.  If they made a PHEV with 50ish miles of range I wouldn’t use gas outside of road trips, and even then once I got to the beach house I could use the golf cart hook up with a convertor to charge and not have to use gas until we left.

Depends on the frame.  The only thing that really goes bad on Toyota’s is the frame and if that’s rusted to bits it doesn’t really matter.  I have seen people try to get waaaay too much money for V8 4Runners and GX’s with rusted out frames just because “they know what they’ve got”.

I think some people are upset because they have a bored and stroked version of an engine and didn’t make a high compression N/A version. I think the purist version would be a 3.6 naturally aspirated engine pushed to 11 with a manual and nothing else tacked on. Should be incredibly light and handle like a dream.

One of the best paying is technician jobs is diesel mechanic. A lot of it is fleet work and you are basically working on one model that came with one engine/trans at a dealership (F250/F350 at Ford for example).  People use them for work so they will pay what it takes to fix them and flat rate for diesel is pretty

The model 3 seems to be doing well around me.  I rarely see a Model S and I’m not sure if I could tell if it’s a new one.

I think the E63 AMG wagon is super rare but because Mercedes doesn’t break the wagon numbers out from the overall sales you can’t pinpoint how many there are.  IIRC they are more rare than the SLR and other AMG super cars.

Agreed, when people are asleep is the best time to charge and there is usually a 10 hour or so span when people don’t need to drive their car while it’s home.  As far as infrastructure it varies state to state but power demand is becoming a problem without EV’s.  With weather becoming more extreme there is increased
