I don’t think an Alfa would ever be as reliable as a Civic or 3 and both of those are available in manual which is how I would spec them.  I had a 3 hatch and it was an awesome car.  Great MPG and very reliable.

I had a 2.8 24V VR6 MKIV GTI.  It was a ton of fun.  I used it as a long distance commuter and it had the right balance of comfort and sportiness plus the added benefit of being able to move stuff with the seats dropped.  Despite the HP advantage I didn’t see the appeal of the added weight and complexity in the R32.

I would suppose the CX-50 is close to size as this with a 2.5T it gets 23/29mpg and makes 256hp (0-60 is 6.6 seconds) so you may be right in terms of gas mileage. I’d wager the CX-50 is way cheaper and more fun to drive though.

This model is not getting that engine:

...respectfully disagree with it and will explore all available legal options, including appealing the verdict,”

2.5-liter four cylinder engine and two electric motors, making a combined 243 horsepower”

My problem is that an automatic is most certainly the wrong transmission for the car. I’m not even saying the automatic convertibles are bad, an auto totally makes sense in a car like a Mercedes SL or some kind of boulevard cruiser. The auto in the Mazda turns a sports car into a grand touring car which is not the

I can’t really put a price on an Avanti because there are so few left in the world.  In this condition with all the original pieces this is certainly an NP.

Miata’s with automatic transmissions.  It’s the only time Miata isn’t the answer.

I mean Tesla is basically doing that model at this point. All the platforms they are using currently are quite old with minimal updates outside of software and refreshes here and there.

The interior reminds me of Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.

They are called Event Data Recorders. When I worked at Ford you could plug in an IDS (their specific scan tool) and manually trigger an Event and pick out which PIDs you wanted to monitor to see what was happening for diagnostic purposes. Otherwise something like an ABS event, sudden change in speed, or airbag

I look forward to the Alan Ruck 2.0 update that allows him to not hit the gas instead of the brakes.

If you own a boat then you are constantly working on a boat. I don’t know any boat that doesn’t need constant random repair. They are fun when everything works perfectly and the weather is great but they quickly turn to nightmares when they don’t work and the weather is less than great.

The new one is not going to be fossil fuel powered:

Not really, you can force it to take a snap shot when testing for diagnostic purposes using a scan tool but ECU’s aren’t constantly recording historical data there isn’t enough onboard memory for that. They might get lucky if there was some recording of data right before the crash but sometimes that needs an ABS event

I have a CX-5 and it is certainly the most fun to drive out of the RAV-4, Forester, CR-V, etc. crossovers.  Ours is a grand touring so the interior is also quite nice.

This is the most accurate description of a boat launch I’ve ever read.

I watch for his power tool videos.  They are great.

I remember seeing these at the 1/4 mile track a lot when I was younger.  They are way faster than you would think with minimal mods.  That being said I would not want to immediately throw a clutch in a car I just bought.  It may make sense for someone who wants to upgrade the clutch and flywheel to snag this for about
