F350 7.3L TD V8 with a granny 1st.  I could never tell what gear it was in, not that it mattered you could start in anything up to 4th and it would just go, albeit slightly slower than lower gears.  Reverse was hard to find and it was too easy to accidentally put it in the crawler gear which tops out at like 1omph.

Cue Bernie “I’m asking you” meme with Musk’s face photoshopped on

I got hit by one of those in a home depot parking lot while in the store!  I think maybe they should park all the way in the back instead of trying to pull through and side swiping cars.

Is it weird to see welded aluminum instead of billet or carbon fiber for a strut tower brace? It seems like it would be stronger to have one piece instead of two welds at stress points.

My friend had an 80's 528e that he put countless amount of work in, welding new floorpans, putting por-15 on whatever he could salvage in the underbody and generally just chasing weak points.  Start with good bones and a rust free body and make it what you want, I say the same about houses.

Have you heard of McMaster-Carr? They are my go to for bolt sourcing. They have like every bolt imaginable with great diagrams.

May want to clean it up with the POR-15 3 step process. The final coating will protect it for a long time. Very popular to do on truck frames and marine applications.

Pro-tip for future bolt removal:  Hold the bolt end with a breaker bar instead of a ratchet.  The sudden torque from an impact wrench can break the ratchet pawl or the gear.  With a breaker bar there isn’t anything to break and the person holding it will have more leverage.  Always use the impact wrench on the nut

I did indeed mean NP.  A lot of these do have rust issues on the rear above the tire (like pretty much any car) and they are super rare in coupe form (they also made a convertible which are even more rare).  Having cloth with the sportline is rare because I would imagine most people spec the upgraded suspension with

My point is that I think the reliability will move from the manufacturer to the motor/battery supplier, although I agree that thermal management and power management are important and the main cause of battery failure. There seems to be a lot of collaboration with battery and motor development Honda and GM, Toyota and

There is also the fact that Subaru offers almost the exact same car with a different name. As the article points out Subaru will also have the federal tax credit long after Toyota’s expires making it even more competitive.

Being a coupe already makes it rare, having the 3.0 with the sportline suspension and a stick makes it super rare.  ND because basic maintenance and these run forever.

I’m wondering with the rise of EV’s how much “Toyota reliability” will matter. One of the big reasons people buy Toyotas or Hondas is because of their reputation for bullet proof reliably engines. When many vehicles are using batteries and motors from the same suppliers, reliability becomes less of a factor and

I feel like I’ve seen these before:

It has the right engine, trans, and its 4x4.  Plus fog lights!  There does seem to be some slight scuffing on the drivers side front bumper though.  NP

I used an online inflation calculator and $10,000 adjusted for inflation is $16,476. I think the Mitsubishi mirage is the only car you can buy that cheap and I just priced a basic one with a manual trans for $15,975. TLDR Mitsubishi is the new Kia. The Rio is the cheapest Kia and it starts at $16,250, a Hyundai Accent

This is by far one of the worst V8 engines ever made. The 3.9L would have an ignition coil failure if you looked at it. This car shared many parts with the Lincoln LS which we nicknamed “Little Shit” as they had so many failures.

These cars had two thermostats, the one I replaced had “remove engine mount” as the first step in the manual.  I hate these cars.

There was a guy in my shop doing an intake manifold gasket on an old town car, he pulled off the intake and right in the middle of the V was a phillips head screwdriver.  The owner said he had done the intake gasket himself several years ago and was wondering where that screwdriver had been ever since.  I have also

An automatic Hyundai Accent.  Slow, unreliable, ugly, and not appreciably better at anything other than being super cheap.
