The Galileo probe launched a separate probe, the first, into Jupiter’s atmosphere in 1995. Galileo continued to do a whole bunch of other missions until 2008 when, due to concerns about contaminating one of Jupiter’s moons with Earthican bacteria, it was deliberately sent into its atmosphere to burn up.
