@SBM_from_LA: Boo for advancing technology. Guess it's good that my elderly parents still rock a CRT, which means I can borrow an older one when needed.

Instead of leaving a lamp on an automatic timer, leave a television on instead. The fluctuating light levels are more convincing. If burglars are watching your lit up window for an hour and can't discern any movement, they may feel bolder.

It's-It ice cream sandwich, begins with an "I", and they apparently served them in their NY center. Seems to perfect to ignore, but then it's also a brand name.

@TheNimboo: I would rather pay once and have a fancy multimedia device like this (other than buying the occasional app), and a junker phone that just makes phone calls on a cheap plan (currently using a 6 year old unlocked Motorola RAZR for $20/month).

A Rube-Goldberg inspired art installation is documented in the film The Way Things Go, it's nearly 30 minutes long.
