Um, sorry, what company? Asking for a fiend—friend! I meant “friend.”

Taylor Swift of rap! You nailed it, and I’m laughing at how perfect your paragraph on that topic is.

Ok. Fuck Daren Aronofsky for this wankfest male privilege masturbatory bullshit of a movie.

What makes this shitstain even worse is that there is a good horror film to be made from this material - but this isn’t it.

It sucks so bad I am astonished anyone greenlit it in 2017. And I’m really pissed off that Jennifer

I went to one event to try it out, get out of my comfort zone, and not judge the people who rush. I went in with an open mind. It was insane madness. Batshit crazy. Reminded me of those Scientology gala clips. They divided us up into smaller groups at one point. I walked in and a rush coordinator who would be our rush

No one has ever been able to give me a good explanation of why the benefits of the Greek system outweigh its long (and ongoing!) history of sexism, racism, classism, homophobia, physical violence, and substance abuse (and that’s avoiding the extremely weird “pay for friends” angle).

Ahahah oh no it’s just beginning!!! I’ve never heard humans scream as much as sorority girls, god bless them. They’re just so EXCITED.

“I’m never getting farther than this, so these are my glory days.” Some people have college careers, some have high school careers. Some poor unfortunate souls have middle school careers. Most of us live and thrive past 25, and have real lives and the corresponding real careers.

Read - resume padding, brown-nosing, and nepotism.

Cue 500 commenters coming here to tell you that greek life isn’t like that at all and charity and friends for the rest of your life and professional opportunities.

It’s interesting, because if you read Dante’s description of what entering hell is like, it’s that video. Those are the screaming souls that greet you.

Listen, I’m black, but if I ever wanted to get into rap, I sure as hell would not be trying to push the idea that I’m a hood chick, because I don’t have that background. That would be a sham even from me. It’s an even bigger sham coming from her. I don’t understand why she thought anyone would buy that as

This was a fantastic piece Clover. Really well done.

I think the most important thing for non black rappers is to remain authentic no matter what. Don’t front for fame because folks will blow up your spot with the quickness.

What I find amazing is that she had folks falling over her left and right trying to make her a pop star a la “a Fergie, Gwen Stefani or Britney Spears”, and she *still* insisted on trying to rap - trying to use a style that demands a cultural connection she did not appreciate and did not bother with. Christ, *ICP* is

I think “do you” is always great advice for the kind of people it’s meant for...people with a specific and interesting POV all their own. People who have a “you” to do. You can’t do you when you got no you to do.

All through this article producers and directors are trying to get her to go pop instead of hip-hop, and when she finally does try to do hip-hop everyone holds it against her that she is white.

THANK YOU FOR THIS.

...Man, I think I’m going to keep coming back to this piece all day, thinking about it more. Upon reflection, this bit is really sticking with me:

Now playing

This is amazing — thoroughly researched, relentlessly argued and really compellingly written. Thank you for making my morning with it!
