Yeah, the book was much seedier! I read it once in 7th grade, but I was reading Stephen King then, so the beach-book depravity stood out to me less.

The thing that’s key to understanding this phenomenon is how the narrow ideal for feminine beauty is baked into the American standard for Masculinity™. Masculine Men are horny all the time, and when confronted with a Sexy Woman they can hardly control themselves, howling like coyotes at the full moon. Conveniently,

Fair: By definition, her profession - modeling - is ultimately an open invite to objectification, commentary, dumb opinions, misogyny, racism, and stupidity from strangers... This instance of that profession - being on the cover of a well-known, mainstream publication - opens her up to a wider variety of opinions. So

Apropos of nothing:

Let me be the first to say that Climax was not “every bit as harrowing as Irreversible.”

Found one!

Next Goal Wins was actually shot before Thor (in 2019)... but then they needed to replace Armie Hammer (with Will Arnett) in some reshoots earlier this year.

I love her so much! But I won’t watch Candy.

Teenage me was very into Geena Davis in The Long Kiss Goodnight.

I watched the first (new) episode on Amazon last night and I did not expect Dave and Kevin to give us the Full Monty. That was… something. Good premise to to the sketch, though.

Stephen King does let student and up and coming filmmakers make films of his work that he has control over for $1.

The budget is the big problem here. They picked the King story about pyrokinesis, but only gave it a budget of $12 million* to work with. That would require a lot of creativity when it comes to special effects to make cheap effects look more expensive, and it sounds like they didn’t deliver.

“Flame Igniter” by Smart Guy

Looks like this movie has critics jumping off the deck and shoving into overdrive.

DANGER ZONE!

Who here can remember the last movie they rented from a RedBox?  Mine was The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

I have a friend who works at Comcast and he claims that for years the company that owned Red Box actively lobbied against getting state and federal funds to expand high speed internet to rural areas because they knew once people could stream shit their last market was dead. Apparently Family Video spend money doing

The face of the man who created Matt Foley.

Well obviously, they gotta give him that other $2 mil even if he does a bad job.

She’s talking an awful lot of shit for someone who recently championed Halloween Kills.
