The comments I’ve seen on articles about this have been so vile from both sides of the spectrum....people on the left saying its “karma” for him being a dirtbag/sexual harasser and people on the right screaming for Ali’s head on a platter and blaming her/the left/”fake news media” for the kids death. What happened to

Meanwhile, the Occupy movement took a good idea and turned it into fart-sniffing drum-n-weed circles and accomplished pretty much nothing. They changed no one’s mind and did nothing to convince anyone of anything, other than reinforce the foolish idea that protests are stupid and aren’t worth anything.

You see, if more religious groups acted like this, I wouldn’t have problems with organized religions. With a lot of ‘Christians’ (speaking as an apostate myself) they treat wearing the cross as their own personal “I can be a massive hemorrhoid in public” badge. On the other end of the spectrum, I have nothing but

I’m never not amazed at Trump’s ability to consistently live down to the lowest of expectations. Everyone expected him to make a fucking natural disaster and severe humanitarian crisis about himself and his ego, with no fucking mention of the victims, and of course he fucking did. The second easiest thing for a

Spicer, who went on CNN during the campaign with ashes on his forehead on Ash Wednesday, often spoke about his Catholic faith during news briefings. He once told reporters that he had given up drinking alcohol for Lent.

Three (3) slices of Land O Lakes white American Cheese.

You make a valid point, and I shouldn’t make it seem like they’re all like Osteen, because obviously they’re not. Plenty of faith-based organizations and people actually live by the words they believe in. I will also second Team Rubicon, a couple friends of mine do work with them, and they seem absolutely top notch.

Response of the day:

Literally!

The Mennonites are big on disaster relief and are amazing at rebuilding. I give to their disaster charity all the time. (It’s on my Amazon Smile.)

Who is he thanking and why? The 4th largest city in the country is being ravaged by unprecedented rainfall, people are being killed, and 10's of thousands are losing everything they have and he’s talking about it all as if it’s a good thing??? Blarrghahashahbhbhhahhhhh.

I hear ya but instead of fighting fire with fire, I would love to see all congressional democrats roll up their sleeves and fly down there and show those people that they aren’t afraid to help out people they don’t agree with.

The Mary Sue blog has assembled a list of ways to help, places to donate money or supplies or direct aid to help:

Yay! some Red Cross exec just got a bit richer! And, depending upon how much you donated, some hurricane victim might get a bottle of water sometime in the future - assuming he’s near a news truck, that is.

I think some of my donations are going to go to Team Rubicon:

This is really sad to say, but my wife’s nephew worked for the Red Cross for a while and doesn’t have a lot of good things to say about its internal workings. High administrative overhead and a tendency to spend a lot on public relations instead of helping people as much as their image implies.

The Red Cross is a brand now, not a real charity. Better to send your money directly to Houston residents. Donating to the Houston Food Bank or Houston Humane Society is much better than giving to the Red Cross.

My pet charity for domestic disasters is Mennonite Disaster Service. Yes, they’re a religious charity, but as their overhead is provided by the church, 100% of what you donate goes to assist. They’re usually not first responders but they will go in and stick around for the long haul, helping people rebuild and

When my college roommate’s mom lost her house in the Shreveport floods, I asked what I could do. I told her I wasn’t giving to Red Cross. I decided on Second Harvest Food Bank.

Fuck the Red Cross. Donate to local relief efforts.
