I was surprised, in a FB thread, to see how many people WEREN’T taught that as children. I was, but my parents’ best friends who we vacationed with my whole like were both in the NYPD*. I grew up in rural CT in a town that was 99 percent white, so profiling there was based on appearance - my brother with long hair and…
The favors WERE Halloween candy, that is the most important part of Halloween for me :)
Oh me too, but they are so off the reservation already, you know?
This is what my ex-husband said when people kept asking if our wedding was going to be Halloween themed (it was on the 30th). “Wedding is the theme!” I mean, the invites had leaves on them and instead of a swan and love doves ice carvings on the Venetian table we had jack o’lantern ones, but no one had to costume it…
Man, I grew up wearing slips and my mom always wore one - neither of us own any now. I can’t even think of any clothes I have that I would wear one with - my dresses that would have needed one then are lined now.
Khakis or black slacks and a button down are no more expensive than black jeans and a button down. I’ve been a Kmart shopper, they sell appropriate clothing for all but black tie occasions.
Sandy Hook truthers call/write/otherwise harass the parents of the kids who died, and have made threats. I could see one taking to the next level.
When the previous First Lady sent tweets from the official FLOTUS twitter account that were actually written by her, she put her initials at the end. Many public figures do the same. Also always note what comes from this president’s personal account vs. the POTUS account.
Holy fuck. I’m really sorry.
My (now ex-) husband once are my leftover filet mignon, knowing full well I was planning on eating it for dinner. Luckily for me he told me he did it before I left work, so I sent him back to the steakhouse for a replacement.
Clearly you don’t live in a town full of professional day drinkers, where drinking for 10 or more hours is considered normal no matter your age. We all have issues, obviously.
I don’t want to pile on since it seems you & your husband are trying all available resources, but I know here in NY there are organizations geared specifically to first responders. My friends do a stairclimb fundraiser for one every year and they are very helpful with counseling services, etc. They are charitable…
My nieces loved ABBA at that age (we grew up with it on 8 track). So I would throw in that and some cheesy 70s stuff that they are sure to hear at parties/weddings as they grow up. The Forrest Gump soundtrack is a good multi-decade jumping off point too. I’d also throw in some Led Zep and 80s hair bands and freestyle.…
I’m half Swedish, I like the meatballs. Maybe my Aunt Muriel just made crap meatballs.
I’m not strong, and I am uncoordinated AF. I still managed to put together my IKEA gate-leg table with no issues. Maybe because I’m half Swedish?
I don’t know, the first time my parents went they almost got divorced after 40+ years of marriage, then ran into another couple at the wedding registry printout kiosk in Macy’s who said the same. Now they go all the time, sometimes with other couples (and they are happily at 51 years of marriage).
When I was at my parents’ in CT this weekend, I read a story about a guy who was on his eighth restraining order violation with the same woman. The judge finally put him in jail with a $500,000 bond - every arrest before that had been low level bail. The judge said the perpetrator obviously didn’t respect the previous…
I honestly don’t understand how insurance companies aren’t already charging gun owners higher rates as they do for dog owners, pool owners, and trampoline owners.
Happens all the time when they impound people’s cars for DUI.
