Trash should be the option of last resort. Reduce, reuse, recycle, refuse.
Recycling should be the option of last resort. Buy less single use items and reduced packaging, when possible.
Ha! I’m surprised this took this long.
I went to 4 Früvous shows back in the day, just before they broke up. I met 3 of the guys in the band. 2 of them were gracious and cool and one of them was Jian Ghomeshi. When his personal life became a criminal matter, it confirmed my impression of him as a creep. It’s a shame his victims didn’t get justice.
This ages me massively, but The Cult were a very underrated rock band.
Lawyers. Lots of us also wax nostalgic about the lost glory days of drafting / editing in WordPerfect “Reveal Codes” mode, which was glorious.
How staggeringly dumb it is to have written something so cavalier about a really great piece of art. Baskets was consistently funny and thoughtful and mordant and silly, and was a singular and unique piece of filmmaking. Perhaps you prefer the aspirational consumerism of HGTV, but there are still people in the world…
The Twin Cities are amazing (I say that only as a tourist; I’m Canadian). Minneapolis is thought of as a mall and nothing else but both cities are awesome. So much to do and see, and a really great food and art scene.

They regularly rely on local law enforcement when they travel, which takes time and money away from respective communities who pay for it.
Neo, Speed guy, Johnny Utah, Ted. He is known for so many iconic roles. But, oh, he was so preternaturally pretty in Point Break. I will never forget the day I watched that movie in the theater. I had the biggest celebrity crush of my life (which lasted over a decade).
I worked as a Junior Ranger with the Ministry of Natural Resources in northern Ontario in the mid-80s. We worked 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 8 weeks in pretty grueling labour (for 17 year olds).
Treeplanting. Living in tents in the bush, carrying 23 kg of trees at a time, planting up, around and through the slash (all the detritus left behind by logging) in steep cutblocks in the freezing rain and hot sun, and it’s piecework so you’re always pushing to go faster. One of the hardest but also best jobs I’ve…
Sovereign Grant, a kind of a taxpayer funded welfare for wealthy royals.
To all the “Tiger is a bad guy” takes in these posts, I have some bad news for you about every fucking single other sports hero...
