Maybe middle school is still too young? I almost wish it were restricted to adults. So, kids could explore while those neuronal circuits are still expanding and wiring. That which we learn at this age, consciously and subconsciously, we take for life.

Can we get this back?

Ive watched this video...wait, no I don’t want to say how many times because that would be embarrassing.

For a little bit here I sort of agreed with some of the things you were saying, but this just went off the rails. Casting a POC woman as Hamilton would be interesting and very appropriate given the themes of the musical, the creator’s intent, and public understanding of the musical as a piece of art.

That “clarification” is bullshit. The roles were not written for non-white actors. They were written for actors with a particular skill-set. The producers recently changed their minds, and decided they were written for non-white actors. The Broadway Rumor Mill, where I get all the best news, currently has a story that

Now playing

We’ll just have to wait until the show is licensed to schools and youth theatre camps, when this is what will literally happen. XD

As a mediocre, middle-aged, white male who cannot sing or dance but was very funny in high school plays, I am glad that society FINALLY allows me a chance at Broadway stardom!

The results won’t matter if you truly are seeking an all-minority cast, just don’t say it explicitly in the open casting call. Don’t say “[ANYTHING] ONLY”

As a matter of law, they probably did fuck up and probably will get punished. This is one time where the “what if” actually holds water. OTOH with all the institutionalized racism in the entertainment industry I can’t really find the effort to care. I’m sure the white people who were bothered by this can take solace

This is the first I’ve heard of this - do people really believe it? It is worth pointing out that the Irish in Northern Ireland felt a strong connection to and learned a lot from the US Civil Rights movement in the 60s http://n.pr/1pqTl2w (SO, fellow Irish-Americans, brush up on your history and don’t be racist!)

As a historian and an Irishman, I thoroughly approve of this. I mean, yes, there are some famously awful things that the Irish people have gone through over the years (the aforementioned research from the article, Oliver Cromwell, the Irish Famine, etc.), but the important thing to remember is that the Irish were

I guess you could read it that way, but I didn’t, actually. And I was all ready to hate on them because Forever 21.

I read it as a way of being more assertive. I didn’t read any sexual content in it at all. I think saying “maybe” when someone wants to bone would be a complete boner-killer anyway.

I, also, did not see the message and automatically think it meant rape.

Seriously? I took this to mean not to semi-commit to stuff you don’t want to do, like working late, volunteering, taking a pay cut, etc...lots of people hve trouble saying “no”. Or even a play on “no” to drugs.

Huh. I read it completely differently. I read it as don’t let someone bully you into doing something you aren’t sure about. If you want to say no to the D, then for gosh sakes, say no.

What she does with that outfit is her business.

It makes me really sad that she even for a second considered the race of her rapist as a factor in whether or not she reported it. Scum is scum. Regardless of color.

Yeah. A little bit like ...

I often enjoy jezebel, but let me tell you, if you allow yourself to criticize anything jezebel does, the responses are agressive at worst and pseudo arrogant (sorry Kara, but not the first time seeing your “lol” to a perfectly fine criticism) at best
